I’m so proud of my client @texasdelarosa for all of his hard work in and out of the gym. He began training with me in June, took a month off when he was diagnosed with Bells Palsy but jumped right back into it as soon as he was able to.
Amazing transformation Texas, you’ve earned it!
It’s the freakin’ weekend y’all! #ad This is the first in a series of posts I’ll be featuring this new running jacket by @runwithnova 👉 With 2018 around the corner and becoming a @nuunhydration ambassador, running is going to be a part of my new routine and I’m PUMPED! Trying out this jacket was a dream because it seriously was so light weight and the material was incredibly comfortable... PLUS there’s actually on demand illumination tailored in to make those early morning or late night runs more safe👏 For more details, check out my link in bio & comment or DM with questions! They’re rolling out this new baby next year and you’re going to want to be on their nice list 🖤 #RunWithNova#RunLighter
Went to my husbands company holiday party last night ( it was all white attire), and had to compare our photo booth photo to the one we took at the holiday party two years ago when we first moved to Austin.
I can't believe how much he has changed too. He has changed nothing and hasn't tried to lose weight at all, and is just starting to have me train him.
This picture shows how your own health can affect those you love and live with. I roll my eyes all the time that I'm the one that does the heavy lifting and good food choices and he gets all the benefit from it.🙄But it's true and nice to know I'm helping my family when I help myself.
This photo is why I will not feel guilty going to workout, hauling the family to races, running for hours on Saturday mornings, or not buying bagels and donuts for everyone.
What will your 2018 look like?
What fears will you conquer and push out-of-the-way?
What will you lay down that may be holding you back?
How will you love yourself, well this year?
How will you prioritize self-care in 2018?
Sometimes we just have to take the first step forward and everything else will fall into place.
I am definitely going to be focusing on self-care in 2018 in lots of ways. My body is needing some TLC.
The first thing I’m going to be doing 2018 is cleansing my body of all the bad bacteria. Cleaning out my gut and allowing my healthy microbiome to flourish.
If you’re interested in prioritizing your health in 2018 like me, please comment below 👇🏻. I would be honored to go on this journey with you 💛.

@Regranned from @austin.catsanddogs.rescue - We still desperately need a home or foster for this adorable and sweet cat asap! If you foster we will supply food and litter! She cannot find a way to get along with the other resident cats and so at all times she has to be isolated. She needs to be the only cat! Please, we need your help with this one. This girl was left in an apt complex by her original owners, so a kind couple fed her for two years after that. When it came time for them to move, they couldn’t leave her behind. So they took her with them. It’s been two years now and it is been a horrific two years for this couple and their two cats. Sweet girl is an angel and loves to be pet as long as those other two cats are in another room locked up. If they are out she acts out against the owners and against the cats. They have done everything they can think of for two years and their whole life is upside down trying to accommodate this cat...because the love her so much! It’s just not working and it’s not fair to the family or the cat. We want to help. I know there’s someone out there, one of our followers or one of your friends, who doesn’t have any animals and loves cats and would welcome this cat either as a foster or as a new member of the family. Please contact us right away as time is running out for sweet girl. Austincatsanddogsrescue@gmail.com thank you and please ask your friends, family and colleagues! This girl is a sweetheart and wants to be the only cat. 🙏🏻🐈🙏🏻🐈🙏🏻🐈
You see: a pistol squat. I see: a 6 year chapter of my life ending, and a new one beginning.
When you slip a disc you feel like your legs can't move. And then the pain sets in: the chronic, life-changing pain. There isn't an area of your life that it doesn't touch: your mood, how you perceive your kids, how you interact with others. 🎄
I slipped my disc in December of 2011. I was too strong in some areas (my legs especially) and too weak in others (my glutes & abs). I had opened my company just a few years earlier, so I was constantly sitting at a desk or in a car with my hips locked up, and my yoga & flexibility training was always the first thing to get thrown out in harried workout sessions.
Doctors (and google) said a surgery would get me out of pain, and I almost bit. But luckily ethical doctors talked me out of it. They said: rebuild the foundation. The slipping cement with dry and flake off. You will rebuild. A surgery is actually the wrong road as the pain is a useful guide to tell you what needs to happen, what is working and what isn't.
Trust the pain. Lean into it.
So I did.
So today, 6 years later (that long because of 2 pregnancies after injury). I'm stronger than I was before the injury. My form is better. And finally - FINALLY - my hips are loose enough, my abs are strong enough (despite a Turkish appendectomy, 2 c-sections and ab separation during pregnancy), the pain is gone so my back doesn't seize up as I descend, and I can sit my butt down to my ankle while extending the other leg - and get back up again.
You see a pistol squat. I see victory.
Lean into the pain. Let it scare you, sink you, almost drown you, make you depressed, and turn you into a diamond. Then when you come out the other side - CELEBRATE.
