It was one of those mornings when the sun fell on me like a blanket of serenity. I could already smell cinnamon in the kitchen, and somewhere in the corner of the house, the radio was playing “Dil Kya Kare” by Kishore Kumar. In these last three months, I have memorized all possible songs of Kishore Kumar and Mohammed Rafi, just to sing them along with Baba when we’re walking on unknown streets or when we’re cooking a new recipe. One of my favorite songs, though, is the one playing in the back right now- “Yeh Dosti Hum Nahin Todenge”. It reminds me of those pictures of Baba and Ma. You see, they were first friends and then lovers, and maybe that’s why their relationship was the purest I had ever seen. They’d go on cheap holidays to mountains, chase adventure, and would ask strangers to click their pictures while they kiss under the stars. I know, it’s like those typical love you see in movies, but they were just like this- unconditional. And it’s not like they never fought, they did, but to that, Baba always said that a relationship without impractical arguments is just so lifeless, and that misunderstandings are just a way to healthier understandings, but he also added that without belief, all this is just as useless as a cigarette, because no matter how hard you try, such relationships always fail. .
Baba was sitting on a rocking chair which we had bought around fifteen days ago while sourcing for some furniture for our house. Ever since we have bought that chair, Baba have seem to forgot the mat, and that’s for his good, because more than Ma’s imagination, it has the grievous memories of her; the soreness of her absence. Though, I chose not to change my comfort. And so, I unrolled the mat for myself, while Baba was pouring the cinnamon tea from the tea pot for both of us. Cinnamon tea was again my favorite beverage for mornings, and it seemed as if I couldn’t really feel the world moving until the essence of cinnamon passed down my throat, but it was not in the tea, it was in the love that Baba never forgot to add, as if he was slowly leaving behind a piece of himself in it. .

Life is about being proactive, not reactive. If you want something, go out and start making it happen.
Do not let lack of skill, knowledge or resources stop you from starting.
If you aren't good at something, practice it. If you don't know something, research it. If you haven't got something, gather it.
When we start putting forth our reach into the world, it's amazing what we can start to find.
Grateful for another year to celebrate my birthday! ‼️
Our words have infinite power, to touch and heal someone’s life. My grandfather, Elex Roberts Sr., for many years, has shared the story about his step father, Mr. Ernest. A story that inspired me. I have shared this story as an illustration inside this book. It shows how you can either rush life or trust in the process.
I was able to create a character using Mr. Ernest’s name, sharing these stories in a creative imaginative way. I hope that these stories will impact someone else’s life as it has impacted mine. Sometimes stories are forgotten or never shared and sometimes we forget how valuable our fore-stories can be. .
As my grandfather would say to me and others "You Are Great!" That has become a life model for me. To never forget, no matter how tough life can be, there is always something that you and I are great at doing and being!

Fast fact: I originally titled my book "Only One Delilah" (the name came to me randomly). I decided to change it to Samantha because I thought it would be easier for kids to pronounce, and because it's a more common name.
So far this weekend, I've sold more than 10 copies to people who were either named Samantha or wanted to buy this for a Samantha they knew. ***today is the last day of the Baltimore Book Festival! Make sure you come by booth 69 before 7PM!***
Bumped into this guy at chapters. He's promoting his new book. I personally wasn't interested, but I admired his hustle. The book apparently is a fictional account of a young man struggling. If you have time, and it seems to strike a chord, look him up, hiis name is on the cover of the book picture. Best wishes my friend. #hustle#newbook#chapters#author#struggle#strugglesofadreamer
"Danielle lifted her arm and flicked it to her side, allowing the energy to flow. It burst into flames that coiled up her forearm. She held it out in front of herself, twisting her arm to gape at the fire." -The Last Best Hope
Magic can be something that's difficult to write. A constant with magic is it has its limits. When it's an infinite supply, it makes the characters overpowered, and there's no tension in action scenes. With the right touch, it can amplify the intensity of fights.
In my novel, I treat magic differently for everyone. For Danielle, I treat it like a water tower. She has a finite amount of energy she can draw on, and if I feel like she's surpassing that limit, I pull the proverbial plug. No more magic. Fight as you normally would, Danielle.
Do you write magic? I personally love writing and reading it. Who doesn't?
Poor Hufflepuff. Everyone who wasn't cunning, intelligent, or brave got sent to Hufflepuff.
Ding-dong, you are wrong.
Everyone who had immense amounts of courage but, when given the choice, would decide that fighting is not as important as staying to take care of people, injured or killed in a war ended up in Hufflepuff.
Everyone who was extremely intelligent but simply considered it a much more defining characteristic to be loyal and faithful to people they love, rather than taking pride in their intelligence ended up in Hufflepuff.
Everyone who wanted to do something important and had enough cunning to manipulate others and wind their way to the top, but never would do that, because they consider it more important to be honest and earn their success fairly and through hard work ended up in Hufflepuff.
Everyone who was brave, and smart, and cunning, but did not consider those traits to be the most important and defining aspects of their personality ended up in Hufflepuff.
Helga Hufflepuff made a conscious decision to accept only those students who were honest and loyal and true enough to themselves to say "No. Courage, intelligence and cunning are all valuable traits, but I will not define myself by them because I believe there are things more important than that.
We are not your leftovers.
