Straight Arm Cable Pullover—One of my favorites for developing the lats! Keep your feet planted, stick your butt out and make sure your arms stay a consistent length through the movement. You have a great opportunity to really stretch the lats at the top of the exercise here and make sure, when contracting, you’re really squeezing the back! .

Your lats don't feel like they’re getting smoked like they should because—>you feel muscle soreness outside of your shoulders/rotator cuff/upper outer back instead of further down, which really is the belly of your lats.

1️⃣Before pulling yourself up, drive your shoulder blades down to set your shoulders.
-
2️⃣Think of "pulling through your elbows" so your lats are the PRIMARY pullers instead of your biceps/forearms.

3️⃣Allow your shoulder blades to drive upwards as you lower yourself down, repeat the process before the next rep.

4️⃣ Do them with a controlled tempo: I was using a 2121 tempo here, which is 2 sec down, 1 sec at the bottom to drive the scap down, 2 sec up, and 1 sec at the top to squeeze.

By driving your shoulder blades down first, you'll be putting your shoulders in a better position with less strain on their tendons and ligaments. You'll also feel your lats activated from the very start which will allow you to keep them engaged throughout the movement.

I received a photoshoot as a gift, which I could use at any time I wanted, so I gave myself 12 weeks to prep for it - I wanted a "momento". So I trained my ass off, ate well, trialled a couple training vs nutrition principles to see how my body would respond and this was the final product. I was happy. Didn't it'd come up this good!

I don't have many photos left of the times like this, for a few reasons BUT this id a reminder for me that I CAN do it. I'm lacking what it takes to get back there, but the next 8 Weeks of this F45 Challenge will definitely be the stepping stones back to this type of physique.

I need to reprioritize everything in my life, and making sure my health and my fitness is joint 1st and/or 2nd. Slowly but surely, I'll  be back ✊🏾👦🏾

Weight was moving pretty slow but probably had to do with the fact that I wore polos to the gym by accident again 😭 didn’t wanna get out of bed this morning but was so glad I did after today’s workout. Plenty of solid PRs hit for volume and weight! You’ve gotta remember to reap what you can with the energy you have. Hope everyone had a great day!

Heaviest I've gone since tearing my shoulder last year, only been back in the gym properly for 3 weeks. Strength is already coming back pretty quickly, thank fuck for muscle memory 😀 
This was set 4 of 6, 10reps at 120kg at my current 90kg. Long way to go but we're on the road 💪

I was feelin’ inventive with my workout today! And believe or not, this set up is not just some “window dressing” to make me look like I know what I’m doing but actually has a good reason behind it. By adding my heavy duty resistance band in the mix, I am increasing the amount of force (aka tension) that my back is having to overcome in the contracted position. You see we are always weakest when our muscles our stretched and strongest as they are shortened...therefore by adding the band’s variable resistance at the point I’m strongest, the back contraction I got was insaaaaaaane! Plus I really didn’t feel much in my biceps which is a problem for me when I do your standard close grip lat pulldowns. While I still believe a traditional or even weighted pull-up is one of the better back width exercises, I will definitely be adding this in my and our clients program!
