Balance challenge: make your physical health a priority. Today I went for acupuncture and ate a vegan cookie! 😂 Since the pregnancy & birth, I’ve had many physical challenges, and acupuncture, chiropractic & physical therapy have been a huge part of my recovery. Be proactive and get help when you need it to stay in optimal health.
It helps to have healthy treats around to indulge in. Other nursing mamas - do you want to constantly eat?! Thanks to @freshfromtheheart for this yummy guiltless fudge cookie!
Sneaking one last kiss under the mistletoe! Catching up after 4 days of not posting…it takes just about that long to put away your Christmas decorations when you’re a busy mama.
Cleaning up a physical space definitely helps me feel more balanced. But it can take so long to get a simple house project done with all the demands of work and baby! Working on adjusting my expectations and being ok with accomplishing a little at a time…it’s progress. Tackling one small area or project at a time helps with the overwhelm of dealing with the entire messy house. Working on better organizational systems and places for all the things. And maybe some mess is ok in the meantime, while there are other important things to be done…like kissing under the mistletoe. ❤️
Quest for Balance Day 4: Make Art.
Today I visited Little Pulp @littlepulp…an amazing 5,000 SF printmaking workshop for kids (and adults)…right in the middle of a mall here in Queens. Owner Frank has such a positive, inspiring energy and is building community through beautiful collaborative artistic creations. And my little guy was drawing for the first time! We will definitely be back soon and I predict some future artistic juggling collaborations.
Art - like juggling - helps kids (and adults) focus and be creative. It opens up a world where anything is possible and teaches us to not be afraid to try something new…and mess up…and try again. So today’s prescription for more balance: put down the iPad and MAKE something with your hands…it’s the best medicine. I’m excited to explore printmaking again...brought me back to my art major days in college…which helped to balance out that engineering major.

The importance of strong feet...
Sixty-six joints in each foot, mostly arranged side to side rather than on top of each other. This amazing structure allows
1. Shock absorption during ground-based movments especially GAIT!
2. Distribution of bodyweight (strength from the ground up!)
3. Glute activation to reduce lumbar "gripping" and knee dominance
and most importantly...
4. To allow the midtarsal joint freedom to unlock as a moldable adaptor AND to lock as a force-producing propeller for ground-based movement.
I can’t believe tomorrow is already day 7 of #cozyuptoyoga
I’ve been loving all your posts and they certainly have been giving off all those #cozy vibes!
Day 7 pose is any variation (feel free to keep legs bent and even both feet on the floor!) of #toebalance (picture 1 actually was before entering the pose, but i kinda dig how it came out so posting both! #embraceyourwild#embraceyourcalm )

Today felt like a blur. This is me accomplishing ONE thing for my business…listening to a webinar…while nursing my baby. In between spit up and unexpected loads of laundry and grocery shopping as the amount of baby puffs in our home hit a dangerous low!
I’ve been wanting to get a little smarter about using social media for business, so today I listened to a webinar on using Instagram with intention by @hilaryrushford So many great tips and business lessons, especially the simple “know WHO you’re speaking to and WHY.” Loved Hilary’s clarity and style (she even made a joke at one point about working from anywhere and doing this or that while nursing your baby…yup.)
But multi-tasking is overrated. I don’t like how it feels when my focus is divided. Juggling is really less about multi-tasking and more about focus. In my sessions on the Juggler’s Mindset, I teach the importance of focusing on one thing at a time. We always sacrifice a little bit when our attention is divided. But sometimes it feels like the only way to get something done…I mean, the webinar’s at a certain time and when the kid’s gotta eat, the kid’s gotta eat! Balance dilemmas.
In 40 days I turn 40! I know it’s just a number but it’s kind of a big one, so I’m starting a 40 day challenge for myself to mark the occasion. .
This past year has been my most favorite ever...becoming a mother and being able to take the time to be with my son. Having a flexible job working for myself is a blessing and also a major challenge. As my workload is building up again, I’ve been feeling a little overwhelmed with this crazy life juggling/balancing act - yes, ironic since this is often what I speak about. But it’s sooo hard! .
Life juggling with a kid: as much as you practice, every day things are changing (just when you think you’ve figured it out) and the balls don’t always listen! So the keys are focus, creativity, adaptability & flexibility. And you love that kid so much that some days (most days!) you don’t want to do anything but be with them as they grow and explore.
It’s overwhelming to figure out a master plan when there are so many things to be done in so many areas of life. So for these 40 days, I’ll take ONE action a day to restore some balance / clean up some area / accomplish something in my business or personal life…or do something that just makes me happy and makes the craziness not matter! Kicking it off with the latter…juggling with my 10 month old...swipe for video.
I’ll post about each day here…to make sure I do it, to ask for help or advice, and to hopefully inspire someone else to start making positive changes one day at a time. .
No idea what this will look like, stay tuned.
Meet Joan... She is one of the fittest 96 year olds you'll meet. In her youth she would ride her bike from Wembley to Kalamunda! ------------------------------------------
She keeps us on our toes thinking up new and challenging balance exercises. Swipe right to see her great grand-daughter helping with today's session.
It’s great to be a #CMP kid! Today some of our #prek girls made this amazing stepping path. They tiered it so that they could jump off at the end. It was a super fun and creative child-directed balance challenge! #cmpfun#cmpkids#balancechallenge
TRX hip mobility/stability working in all three planes of motion: 🌟Sagittal: press top of the back foot into foot cradle and front foot into floor. Stay lifted out of the waist! Bend and extend front leg, lifting front heel once leg is extended. Roll down through foot and lunge back. ✋🏻You can add a hop at the end, but I think just lifting and lower the heel will engage back of the thigh/glute more!
🌟Frontal: turn side. Flex foot in foot cradle and press into strap. This will engage inner thigh and keep hips aligned. Squat standing leg, keeping low abs engaged! Add a hop or heel raise. Heel raise was interesting for me here. Probably do to lateral weakness.
🌟Rotation: turn standing foot so toes are at a diagonal(externally rotate hip) . Keep pressing foot into foot cradle! Add knee repeats, working into a little torso rotation! 🔥Reps will vary! I did 2 sets before the burn was pretty intense! #trxworkout#trxsuspensiontrainer#hipmobility#legdayworkout#balancechallenge
