Maybe it's because of the circumstances that mean we can't meet up as often as we used to, but I still don't give @slumberdogband anywhere near enough credit. I love playing music in any capacity (and I'm excited as fuck for what next year has in store for me on that front), but so far no other band I've ever been involved with has left quite the same mark on my soul as this one.
For one thing it's a chance to jam with two of the finest examples of the human race that I know, but beyond that there's a unique kind of purity in how this music speaks to me, and for me. There's calculated planning laid on top of raw spontaneity, there's beauty offset by disgusting filth, there's fine-tuned finesse amid glaring imperfection, and there's humour in misery. I can't speak for Ian and Dan, but for me personally it somehow captures how I usually feel from day to day in a way that I'm otherwise unable to describe.
If that all sounds like a load of self-congratulatory bollocks, then a) you're absolutely right and congratulations for even reading this far, and b) I don't care; fuck you.
This song is one of my proudest accomplishments ever. Every drum hit has purpose to me. Every lyric is meaningful to me. Every note matters to me.
I hope you might like it too.
