Highlights 2017. It has been an extraordinarily varied year work wise, with jobs for TV shows, a commercial, a film, musical theatre and dance theatre. The thing I love the most is that I could be asked to make just about anything (see alien head for proof of that this year!), which definitely keeps me on my toes. I wonder what 2018 will bring? #themillinerydept
@bangarradancetheatre will be premiering a major new dance Work based on Bruce Pascoe’s ‘Dark Emu’. Which other Oceanian books could you imagine choreographed for the stage? #readoceania#readtheworld#Repost @magabala_books (@get_repost)
We were very lucky to receive a special visit today from @bangarradancetheatre dancers, Baden Hitchcock, Tara Gower and Glory Tuohy-Daniell. The trio were thrilled to visit our bookshop and learn more about Bruce Pascoe’s #DarkEmu , which will premier as a major new dance work with #Bangarra in 2018.
It's time for us to say goodbye to three of our extraordinary dancers as they take the next step in their creative journey. Deborah Brown, Leonard Mickelo and Nicola Sabatino have each made a unique and powerful contribution to the spirit of the company and will always be part of the Bangarra family. All the best!
Ones Country - The Spine of Our Stories by @bangarradancetheatre was phenomenal. The dancing was based on mythology and storytelling from North East Arnhem Land, the Torres Strait Islands and contemporary Sydney. Nathu was about the elusive cycad nut; Place was about being Black and gay (incredibly pertinent given the recent success of the national postal survey on marriage equality that has now been passed by the Senaate); and Whistler was about the sacred significance of the dugong a grey whale-like marine mammal. They've been protected by conservatio legislation since 1999. #bangarra
Gun and roses for my last performance with #bangarra five years ago today.
On a not so unrelated note, chookas to all those ending a season, year, chapter, whatever. The story will continue to be written. Full stop today, next page tomorrow x
Our aboriginal students were treated to an incredible @bangarradancetheatre performance of One Country. After the performance the students got to meet Tyrell, one of the company dancers. Such an amazing experience! #bangarra#OneCountry#dancelife
The reviews for ONES COUNTRY are in! "The dancers, now really at the very top of their game, perform with an incredible strength, agility and litheness," writes the Daily Telegraph.

We love learning about the history of our surroundings in The Rocks and discovering more about our art and culture at the local @bangarradancetheatre. The dance theatre provides deeply moving performances and uniquely Australian contemporary dance and conveniently it's just around the corner, so you can start your night with us for an aperitif and meal before the show.
