Modern Times, Devil's Teeth. Imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels with barrel aged coffee. It's good. Really strong Bourbon flavor. It's mostly all I taste. And it's hot. And I don't taste any coffee. Love it. I give this my highest score ever. One out of two stars. ★✩

This year I am thankful for the embarrassment of riches we enjoy in today's #craftbeer community. Ten days ago on 11/11, we celebrated #Woodshop11 @northparkbeerco, and now the fine folks there are spreading the love and sharing leftovers the day after Thanksgiving, making for a killer draft list of special guest taps (including many one-offs). Awesome beers, all. Get it in!
Huge nuts in your mouth.... that is, huge nut flavor. Walnut is the first thing you taste followed by bourbon from the aging, decadent chocolate, and vanilla. Another exquisite stout from @jackieosbrewery I can't say that I've had anything that I didn't enjoy from them.
I have to say: when I saw that there was a brewery in Lewiston, ME, I was intrigued; this was either going to be something really good, or absolutely terrible. This Torpor, from @bearbonesbeer, though - like Lewiston itself - kind of defies explanation. A lacto sour that's been aged in Bourbon barrels, it's sweet like a stout but a little bit sour as well, with an undertone of smokey barrel char. Huge hit of maple and a sweet vanilla maybe, fig and something else - it's kind of an enigma to me. Certainly one of the most unique beers I've had recently. At 12.9%, I imagine that in a few more sips, all of this subtlety will be lost on me. All in all, I dig it - I just can't define it .

I found this beer @motherkellys_e2 in the fridge marked "European". The bright orange wax beckoned out at me in a flutter of colour and I felt an "a-ha!" moment à la Partridge. I'm so excited about owning such a special beer that I haven't opened it yet. This will be saved for a cold winter's night.
I've liked Põhjala brewery since I had one of their Baltic porters last year but it wasn't until today that I realised that they are fast becoming my favourite brewery. They know how to brew stouts and porters to a near stupid level of resplendence, they're confident, they're aesthetically appealing and they're progressive in European "craft". I can't wait to follow them on their beer journey and see what they come up with next!
