Here's a snippet of #JonasHellborg (with #JohnMclaughlin ) in 1987 with his infamous #doubleneck#walbass . It's essentially a #fretted and #fretless#4string in one. "I had owned a Wal around 79-80 that I bought from Bruce Emms at MUG, the music shop in Gothenburg, Sweden. At the time it was my favourite instrument. So meeting #IanWaller and #PeteStevens , the founders of Wal was indeed very exciting. At the time I was playing both fretted and fretless basses equal amounts so when they offered to make me an endorser I inquired if it was possible to make a fretted/fretless double neck. They had already done a triple neck for Roger Newell of Rick Wakeman’s group so they felt confident about making me one. Details were discussed, wood selected and we had some get-togethers leading up to the final design and the bass was finally delivered to me 1st of July 1984 in Paris. For my entire stint with McLaughlin this was the main bass and for a while after as well. It is indeed a treasured instrument."- Jonas Hellborg, July 30, 2012 (credit: History of Wal Basses) #jazz#fusion#jazzfusion#bassface 😠 #walbasscollective#Wal

@bigmusicstudios started stocking MusicMan, so obviously I had to make a tit out of myself.
Might have to grab one for when Royale With Cheese does the self-titled Rage album in full later this year for its 20th anniversary.
YEAH YOU HEARD ME.
Camera was a bit close to the amp. Apologies.
CONTEMPORARY BASS PLAYER OF THE DAY @joedart of @vulfpeck//
Nothing grooves harder than Joe Dart's bass on vulfpeck records. If there was a definition of Joe DART, it would read something like this,- extraordinarily funky, hard hitting, in the pocket, majestically melodic and deliciously rhythmic bass playing. Vulfpeck are a classic yet contemporary R&B outfit whose band members originally hit it off in the Michigan School of Music and became a YouTube sensation after releasing the song beastly which featured Joe dart's bass soloing! Since then Joe Dart has created excitement and energy in the bass community with his heavy hitting basslines on vulfpeck songs. Plus the guy has got sweet yet deep tones on his bass down to a science.
