This is what a typical weekday evening meal looks like for me. I consider this to be well balanced, with health carbohydrates, lots of veggies, protein and healthy fats.
I like eating healthy wholefoods and not getting too fancy with things, if I'm honest. This is because I enjoy the taste of clean wholesome food and feel better for it, but also, after a day at work, I like to cook us tasty, quick and easy meals😁
I tend to experiment a bit more on the weekends👩🏻🍳especially if I am meal prepping!🍱

Smoothie recipe of the day - I'm just home resting and craving all the chocolate peanut butter goods. I was originally going to make this later today and turn them into popsicles but the smoothie was calling my name. Not pictured is half inch of frozen raw zucchini 🤷🏻♀️Details: 2 scoops super food blend, 1 scoop hemp seeds, bee pollen and black chia seeds. 1 frozen banana, half avocado, half frozen zucchini, 1 scoop peanut butter (add as much as you want), 1.5 scoops cocoa, 2 pitted dates, drinkable yogurt / probiotic, milk of choice! Add everything to your blender and do a little kitchen dance! #dkmvsmoothies
Holding my breath as I post this... My Health and Fitness Journey – Still Ongoing-----(yes, I made fake shorts on the photo to not show too much)
Transparency post and update! The beginning of this year I made the decision that I would “do me” and most importantly “listen” to my body. I wasn’t going to try and follow other standards or fads of what one should be doing fitness wise such as only lift weights, run, body weight, boxing, cross fit, HIIT, etc. Because as for me I love ALL forms of fitness and especially random acts of fitness such as parking in the farthest parking spot in a parking lot, taking the stairs, going for a walk, playing soccer, etc. I decided that I would do what I feel like doing that day to exercise and WOW, what difference it has made.
I don’t ever feel guilty about changing up workouts all the time, or even missing one when I know my body needs a break or rest day(s). I have been able to stay more consistent with working out this way even if getting a workout was only 10 minutes or 30 minutes. I haven’t gone over a 30-40 min workout since the beginning of the year and I’ve seen better results this way then when I was trying to get an hour or so in and fit everything in all at once.
I don’t share this personal side often but as you all know with having multiple surgeries a year for the past 6 years straight my weight has fluctuated a lot from reaching my highest of 122 lbs at only 5’0 (the first picture). After growing up playing soccer and having a schedule and not having to think about consistency these past 6 years with surgeries has been a struggle of staying consistent with my workouts and nutrition. Thankful. Thankful to get to take my job anywhere I want. Thankful to be able to help my team succeed while living my life by design. Thankful to play at the park with this cutie and check my account to see I made more than my husband did this week 😜 (have to shove that in his face a bit) Thankful for taking the leap and realizing I am making them proud. 💕

📖If I'm honest I'm totally wiped after this week! I've worked harder to try & clear the weekend totally as I haven't been to see my (or The Boy's) mama since we got engaged 💍 & before that it had been months because of exams and work and busy-ness!
📚Unfortunately despite my efforts to prep for Mon & Tues next week ahead of time as well as this week's mountain, we then had a research mock released to do over the weekend, so now I'm just driving to Somerset tonight and then back to LDN tomorrow v late after our 💎 drinks & dinner family celebrations so I can cram a 2 day research job into Sunday 🙄
💦On that note, I've been doing extra HIIT workouts as I've been time-poor, which is good on one hand, but they are quite stressful for the nervous system & because of my anxiety and work schedule I need to be careful to not overdo them. Next week I'm going to up my meditation to 20 mins before bed instead of 10, to increase my LISS and stretching, and lower the amount of sprints work I do & probably reduce the length of my plyometrics training too.
⚡️So I don't lose intensity or workout "value" I'll be increasing my resistance training (up da weights baby) and incorporating @shona_vertue's recommendations of meditation, resistance and mobility training to ensure my approach stays balanced & holistic!

Today was casting time with the boyz! 🐶🐶 The journey was eventful (to say the least) and as for the casting... Well they said they wanted energy and they sure got a LOT of it 😂 #dogsofinstagram#ilovemydogs
Wohoo it's Friday!! Just completed BBG stronger Legs official week 1 and it almost killed me -I'm hoping this is going to only get easier! Leaving the office in my gym kit and yes I will be one of those girls who now rocks it on the tube! 😂 #rockingthegymwear

Today wraps up week 51 which means next week will be my ONE YEAR Kayla Anniversary and I am not going to lie, I am a little shocked. I didn't think I would still be doing #bbg after the first round. I used to be a quitter, I used to talk down to myself, have more excuses, be busier, more tired than anyone else. I used to be the girl that would eye roll when going through social media and see someone posting about working out. I used to have a million reasons why I couldn't eat clean or stick to a program. Well, a year ago I decided I was done with being that girl. I was done being a tired mom, who couldn't carve out anytime for herself. I love being a mom, I adore my children. Becoming a SAHM was the best, most rewarding job I have ever had. It's also the most isolating and consuming thing I have ever done. I thought being a mom meant putting myself second. I thought working out was being selfish. Well, I was WRONG! Working out, finding fitness and eating clean has made me a better mom, better wife, and better person. Everyone has excuses, WE ARE ALL BUSY! Everyone is tired, it is easier to eat crap sometimes. But you know what, you deserve to take time out of your day to take care of yourself. You owe it to yourself to fuel your body with good food. Working out is HARD, but being unhappy and uncomfortable in your own skin is HARDER! One year later I am so different, it makes me laugh. Change takes time, habits take time. But day by day and one small step forward you make huge strides in changing your life. I am so happy I believed in myself enough to start #bbg and even more proud and impressed with myself that I stuck to it! Happy Friday everyone, cheers to the freakin weekend 😘

I'm trying to get back into a workout routine after being in Europe for a month and I decided to try something new ☺️ So I signed up for @likeagirl__fitness program so that's what I'll be doing for the next month. Today was my first day and gals, it's NO JOKE 💀 I am pooped. 💩 But in a good way 😏💪🏻

I signed up as a coach for the discount on the shakes.
I had my own thing going on for workouts & there was no way I was gonna stop that. I also was making my own superfoods shakes but realized I would SAVE money monthly by purchasing these!
I joined an accountability group. I tried the at home workout thing...I continued doing my own thing too... I kinda, sorta, fell in love with the workouts. They kick my ass. (But have modifiers too!) They are extremely effective.
They are QUICK.
They are VERYY convenient.
The variety is unreal.
So here I am, 3 years later, eating my own words.
I only do my at home workouts. 🙆🏼 && I'm hooked for life. 👌🏼 #athomeworkoutsforthewin
Kyle and I have a brewery date 🍻 after he gets off work so I opted for living room #bbgabs this morning 💪🏼 it's so true what they say about videotaping yourself to see how your form is. I definitely thought my ab bikes were a little cleaner since I was feeling the burn but they look a tad bit sloppy on video. Oh well! There will always be room for improvement.
As a side note all the videos are 2x speed. I try to go slow for good form and extra burn 🔥

Seriously though, I wasn't going to post this because, well, I'm not looking my best, but then I thought by posting my best photos how am I ever going to become content with my everyday. Realistically this is what I look like most the time, limited definition, rolls over my leggings when they aren't pulled up to my armpits, and cellulite in places I didn't even know you could get cellulite. Recently I have found I am comparing myself to not only others, but to MYSELF, and not in a good way. I look at leaner, better posed photos from my past and have thoughts of jealousy and resentment... "why don't I look like this all the time", "I shouldn't have let myself go", "people expect me to look so much stronger than I do in real life", or equally I look in the mirror, feel good about what I see then take a picture and pick it apart! By posting staged posed pictures in more favourable lighting I think I am actually lowering my confidence?!?! So......They say more exposure to something lessens its impact. I am going to try this in my journey for self acceptance- I am going to Take a picture and post it, regardless of the imperfections. I am going to try and stop the camera roll of attempts at the perfect insta photo and just be the perfectly imperfect me! 😊

can this be a thing? 🤔 i took a bit of a hiatus after the wedding and honeymoon and i think i'm ready to come back now 😊 // so much has happened in the last month! lots of good, some bad, some exciting! // but my eating has been incredibly poor. i've had stretches of binge eating (legit ate chocolate chip cookies for breakfast for about a week 🙊) and it's been weeks since i last put on my tennis shoes. 👟 // my energy levels are at an all-time low, i'm usually quite fatigued, and my self-esteem has dipped. // i've realized, now, just how much i miss working out..i miss that sense of accomplishment. the endorphins. the time for self-reflection. i miss eating well and having energy. // matt and i are starting #whole30 today. 😬 there's something (or things?!) in our diets that doesn't make us feel 💯 so i think a fresh start will help us figure out what our bodies like and don't like. // i'm typically the type of person that likes to start anything at the beginning of the day, or week, or month...but why wait? i have the motivation now! so even if it's friday, the 28th, i'm just going to jump right in! no sense in waiting a day longer! here we go! 👊🏼
This week I experienced some serious guilt and not the norm mommy guilt but feeling bad that I couldn't fit time in for myself. In the past, late night workouts were completely doable but as the kids have gotten older and their sports have gotten a bit more serious, finding the energy to wo after the kids are in bed hasn't been easy. Getting my older daughter prepped for her ice skating competition and making sure my other kids were not feeling neglected, whatever I had in my reserve tank was depleted. It happens. I know. Doesn't make it easier to accept. I'm using this weekend to fill my tank back up. Gonna accept that I didn't get arms and abs in and move forward. Hope you've all had a great week! Becoming a coach has changed EVERYTHING for me. What motivates and inspires you?I feel the most liberated, inspired, and motivated when I travel. I'm super grateful for having the opportunities to travel the world throughout my childhood, and plan to make my goal in life to be location-independent regardless of what my job is. Who wouldn't want to blog from halfway around the world?! 😁✈🌍 _
@millergreenberg and I naturally woke up at 5-6am everyday in CR and we felt SO productive by 8am because by then we'd already gotten our training in while watching the sunrise and mist clear from the tops of the rainforest, AND had a delicious breakfast by then! If only I was as productive back home 🤣 what with the overcast weather these past couple of weeks... _
Fun fact: I've been to 22 countries so far and am so excited to keep adding to the list 😊
Had a crazy craving for chocolate chip brownies and we have some ghiradelli mix in the house...but I've been known to eat half a pan in a day so.... Here's what I whipped up instead: Double Chocolate Chip Pancakes!
Now, they certainly aren't brownies, but they were tasty and now I'm satisfied.
Here's how to make them if you are curious (makes two medium sized pancakes):
1/4c KodiakCakes Pancake mix
1 scoop Molten Lava Cake @uniconutrition Protein powder (or any chocolate protein powder)
1/3c water (or drizzle in water until you get a good pancake consistency)
Handful of dark choc chips to sprinkle on top!
Mix everything (except choc chips) together with a whisk and pour into pre-heated stovetop pan (I used a small pan and made one at a time, you could do multiples of you like) and sprinkle with choc chips! Flip when ready and cook until done. (C: 25g F: 11g P:39g)
I ate them plain but you could top with peanut butter or berries.
I don't have many pictures of myself from the beginning of my journey. I regret that becuase I forget how far I've come sometimes. Comparing pictures of even just a year ago and now helps me remember this, but I wish I had more pictures from the beginning. This is one I came across and the difference surprises me. But not the differences I would once have looked at. I see how my eyes sparkle with happiness, how big my smile is, how my confidence glows. I'm forever thankful for @weightwatchers and this journey.
