Water play at the beach! Reposted from @at_home_with_kids •
WATER PLAY - some of the best kinds of water play happen at the beach. What a perfect week for @steamkidschallenge water-play theme chosen by Mie @mielaerkerasmussen! 👉🏼Today's discoveries started with searching for mole crabs, observing them and then creating a "beach pool" for the Littles. Swipe to see the process! 👉🏼 if you're interested in capturing mole crabs on your next beach visit see our tips below: •
1️⃣Have a big bucket and a couple of large shovels
2️⃣designate a digging spot right where the water is kissing the shore. You want a perfect amount of water and sand.
3️⃣Start digging and quickly build up a berm/damn to block some water flow (swipe to see details) but still allowing for some "flowage" to keep those little creatures coming.
4️⃣You'll eventually see a tide pool being created as the water gets trapped. As the sand settles, move fast with your shovel to pick up those little crabs before they burrow back into the sand!
5️⃣Dump those creatures into your bucket along with some water and sand! This brought back childhood memories with my dad!
6️⃣Observe by swishing around the contents inside and watch the crabs reappear and scurry around like mad! They moved so fast it was hard capturing them on camera. See one little guy next to my giant thumb in the picture line-up.

I'm a HUGE fan 🤸♂️ of Young Living's new Mineral Sunscreen. ☀️ We've been testing it at the beach this weekend and ohmagersh it WORKS!!! 😎 The kids LOVE playing in the big ocean waves 🌊 and this stuff is water proof 💧 and sweat proof 💧 so the water just beads up! We didn't have to reapply it a bunch of times because it's good for a solid 80 minutes...⏱which is plenty of beach time 🏖for our family before we head back in to re-energize with snacks and some R&R. 😴 We just reapply before heading back out and we are good to go for another 80 minutes! ⏳
• Broad spectrum non-chemical sunscreen
• Mineral based with no nanoparticles
• Water & sweat resistant
• Dermatologist approved
• SPF 10
Can we address the elephant 🐘 in the room?? Not gonna lie, the SPF 10 totally threw me for a loop too when I first saw it. 😳 So I did all kinds of research 🤓 and asked a TON of people why. ❓There's lots of stuff out there about new science 🔬 showing that high SPF can actually do more harm than good by blocking vitamin D ☀️ from our skin. 😱 Those of us in the PNW know how critical this is because most of us are actually deficient in vitamin D! Lower SPF does NOT mean the product is inferior 💪🏼 or that you will burn more easily. 😡 Sunscreen needs to be applied frequently, no more than every 2 hours, regardless of SPF. This is the Environmental Working Group’s explanation of SPF in sunscreen: http://www.ewg.org/sunscreen/report/whats-wrong-with-high-spf/
