I met the beautiful and soft spoken Sitawa Wafula from Kenyan today as we talked about #mentalhealth illness. A conversation we don't like to have.
Sitawa Wafula is a source of reference for people looking for support and information on the topic. Sitawa aspires to build a resource centre where people that have mental health issues can gain access to information online and all the help they need to manage their conditions.
Once homebound by epilepsy, mental health advocate Sitawa Wafula found her strength in writing about it. Now, she advocates for others who are yet to find their voices, cutting through stigma and exclusion to talk about what it's like to live with the condition. You can follow @jci_nigeria to learn more
Back in October I donated my bone marrow to give someone in need a second chance at life. The procedure was honestly so straight forward. I sat in a chair and for a few hours gave blood – it really was that simple.
Recently I read these words from another bone marrow donor and in the crazy world we are living in thought he summed it up brilliantly “I’m not the sick one – someone else is sick and could die. Who, exactly? I don’t know! Where do they come from? No idea! Which religion do they belong to? It doesn’t matter! The most important thing is that this is a human being and I can help them.” Well roll on a few months and I have now found out the person that I donated to is one of the lucky ones and is now well on the way to recovery and are back home with their loved ones… what an amazing outcome.
I feel on cloud 9 that a little bit of my blood could have possibly saved a dad, a son, a daughter a mum...!?!?? It’s really easy to be on the register - just google Anthony Nolan or dkms

This is Gayle and her stem cell recipient Lana (plus Lana’s son!), pictured last year.
Gayle said: “I thought 'what is the point of registering if I am not going to go through with it, and after all this could save someone's life -- so just do it!'
It was great to hear that the donation had not only been a success but Lana now also had a baby boy. After exchanging letters, phone calls & emails we eventually met up in May 2015, it was extremely emotional but what a lovely feeling to have not only been able to save a life but that person to then go on and create another.
From a donor’s perspective I can't praise highly enough the work done by Anthony Nolan & I would encourage everyone that is eligible to register to go ahead & do so - be a life saver!” #donatingisntscary#genetictwins#smiles#BeALifesaver
First Aid training is crucial to supporting victims in any medical emergency. Lives can be saved if there were more people first aid trained in every organisation, homes and public spaces #bealifesaver#firstaid @ooniadimulaife @kennyogungbe @oau_gossipz
After court was over, the fun really began! We had basically a month to explore Riga, Latvia. Lemme tell you, it's the coolest place I've ever been! 🙌 One of our favorite places to go was the Riga City Market! It was made up of 5 huge World War 2 hangers that are now FILLED with vendors. Outside, there were even more! Produce, meat, veggies, bread, fruit, flowers, knick knacks, clothes, and so much more was sold there. It's the biggest city market in Europe! You'll notice an entire pig's head in one of the pictures. 🐷 We got a good laugh telling Molly that was supper! 😂 It was here that we also had to pay to use the bathroom. 😮 That was different! You gave a woman some money, and she gave you toilet paper. That was fun to explain to the kids.😉 Just another unique experience my children had through our adoption!❤️ #adoptionrocks#latvia#james127#libbysboutique#fashionandfaithministries
