It’s been quite the week #becomingdrb - it’s amazing how much time it takes to write a hundred pages worth of papers 🤓I somehow managed to do some #marathontraining everyday, but I opted for quick calisthenics instead of listing to save time and cut out social media time. Needless to say, the break was nice, but I missed seeing what everyone has been doing and it was great to be back in the gym today! #maketime #nevermissaday

Thank you GMEA District 1 for the wonderful experience directing your middle school treble honor choir! But also, thank you for allowing me a couple days to catch up with Dr. Sara Lynn Baird and watch her make magic with the high school treble Choir! 
Dr. Baird was instrumental in so many ways: getting me into LSU, directing the choir I sang in sophomore and junior year, encouraging and helping me attend my first ACDA conference, and was my first conducting teacher. Just WOW! Teachers impact lives in so many ways.

Meal prep can be so simple.....if you plan accordingly. It's a multiday planning thing for us.....Friday we make a calendar and grocery list, Saturday we get the food, Sunday we cook and plate for about 2 hours. So worth it to have a clean kitchen, healthy food, and budget awesomeness all week. Pro tip: don't put the dressing on the salad until you eat it and the greens will stay fresh all week! #mealprep #healthyonabudget

Power lifting always flies by! Starts with a simple overhead press and progresses to a full clean press jerk....this was taken about 3/4 though the workout....I was having so much fun working hard! Feeling strong! Having a plan, a program, to stick to is really helping me stay on track.....it is also so fun to see the seconds fall off my run time as I build strength. Who knew? 😜Want to give it a try? Sept 11 I'm teaming up with some fabulous accountability partners and we can save a spot for you! Just let me know!!#runnerswholift #newtolifting

Preload the muscle with body weight work for a minute then add the heaviest weight you can for 8 reps. Ex: 1 min lat pull downs then 8 max weight pull-overs. Wish I could crank out one more gym session right now....no no no, no more procrastinating....back to reading!!!! #becomingdrb #stillgettingstrongereveryday

Nothing but smiles and excited energy! Starting the road towards Dr. Burch this week! Celebrating by looking back at my masters graduation in 2010....looking ahead (and hoping) for a Doctorate graduation in 2020. Mind, heart, body and soul are SO STOKED & READY for this adventure....I'm happier, stronger, healthier, smarter than the younger version....I can't wait to see how things will change in the coming years. I sincerely love our sweet community choir with a mission to sing, socialize and serve. (BIG CONFESSION) Yup, that's me there. I felt "cute" and "happy" and just assumed "fit" was for "athletic people" - which I believed was not me! I was made to be "this way" and there was nothing I could do to change it. Plus, I'd never "worked out" a day in my life! Don't y'all remember those mile "runs" in elementary school - my biggest nightmare! /// This lead to terrible self image issues and eventually anxiety and depression. Yup, honesty moment right there. Something had to change. //// It took years, failures, restarts, pain and tears, but here I stand 30lbs and a total mindset change later. So happy and excited for the present and looking forward to all that is to come. //// It took discipline, support and development of habits. I'm a healthier, happier, productive and overall sweeter version of that girl on the left. ///// But first, very first, it took the knowledge of what to do! /// Find a plan that works for you! Dance, shake, laugh, lift your way to whatever vision you have of yourself. Anything is possible!! //// Having a fitness program that can travel with me, a nutrition plan that helps with portion control and eating whole, real food, and not just counting calories, and having a huge fit family cheering me on daily, it's working for me! //// I have time to help 2 people try this for 2 weeks. So this is really happening! #goingbacktoschool and I couldn't be more thankful or excited! ///// Yes, Savannah will still be home, I'll just live in Columbia, SC part time (my handsome hubs @spencerburch will hold down the fort here). Yes, I'll remain the director of @risechorales (we will rehearse on Sundays, it works better for the high schoolers too). Yes, I'll stay fit and healthy (and even race on the USC tri team!). ///// It will be tough. I will learn a lot.
