How can clothing be polluting the environment? A variety of chemicals like lead, formaldehyde, pesticides, and carcinogens are woven into the fabrics we put on our bodies; run-off from factories leaches back into the earth, in increasing amounts as demand rises (H&M increased its sales in the U.S. by $2 billion since 2000, whereas Gap’s fell roughly the same amount in the same time period), and long-term exposure can lead to health problems like infertility among female workers.
Also: fast fashion is designed to be replaced quickly, not so much by desire but by need. Clothing literally falls apart, meaning that it must be discarded rather than donated or sold to consignment shops. The volume of textile waste is staggering–Americans toss 68 pounds of clothes per year on average–and with that weight comes those nasty chemicals, which decompose at an even slower rate if at all.

On Friday I went to RMIT to view Fast Fashion, the dark sides of fashion. To say I was moved is an understatement and a much more positive way of saying how I truely felt. I couldn't leave without buying the catalogue, which to say the least has refashioned my mind around the fashion industry. I went to a shopping centre today and at one point felt my eyes start to sting with the thought of the new knowledge I have about the fashion and textiles industries. If you have a weary mind about what you purchase and what to know more, this is an amazing exhibition to open your mind or to push your understanding a bit further, bring a more continuous way of shopping into your life. Or just buy the catalogue.
It's Sunday, that means it's a day to slow down and reflect. A local poultry dealer in Nepal making his rounds. Grocery stores offer us daily unconscious convenience, but not everyone in the world has access to such a simple means of procuring their dinner.
#beconcious#behealthy#valery_fitlosophy#valery_fitlosophy_diet#healthyeating
What we do at Home of Wool holds more than monetary value for us. We dream of this ideal state of freedom, peace, and happiness among and within all nations and people. We dream of health and sustainable future for the next generation. We do our best to provide natural options for products that are mainly created from synthetic materials. Even more - we try to keep the whole process of creation as clean as possible and create a natural work environment. Our effort might seem as a little fraction or just a drop in the ocean, but what if we all try to do some more? What if we act more as a conscious community and less as people that are self-absorbed and detached from the world around them
Recently Home of Wool became a supporter of a new cause that resonates with our values on a deep level. These aroma bags were created by Bulgarian Roma women which are part of a program launched in Bulgaria by The Initiative for Social Empowerment (ISE). ISE enables vulnerable groups of women and youth in Europe to break out of poverty through technology, education and entrepreneurship. The organization empowers communities to prosper so that they do not become victims of trafficking, slavery, and social dependency
Those bags are not just a mere preparation of a product that will travel to your home; they carry the scent of freedom, empowerment and dignity across the world. Slowly through every earned cent from each bag, the people from the Roma community were able to repay their debt for the first time in their lives. For them, this now means that they can slowly start building a life with dignity and self-worth that they have never known before “A human being needs more than food to live, as to be fed is just to survive, and survival is not the same as living. The human being needs opportunities to have a purposeful life...how to give opportunities to those who have very little education and live in marginalized environments with major integration problems.” - Isaac Portilla
Lets create some more opportunities together! Be conscious! It’s our world! It’s our future! 🤝👪👪🏾👪🏿👪🏼👪🏽🌍🍃
I worked out heavily and danced in @equinox santa monica probably a million times this past 6 months and tonight I went back after taking a break in the evening only to use the steam room. The moment I walked in and walked up the stairs things felt so different than before. I could feel so much anxiety flowing around which is usually not there morning time. The energy was more like emotions of being lost and anxious without being aware of it and its cause. It reminded me of myself more than a year ago when I quit my corporate job and started shifting my life and taking charge for my growth. I transformed myself to a new person and what hurts my heart is all the people that are behind and what we could do together to change that. Those who work in "jobs" and even their workout is stressful and they are not realizing it. The change needs to start somewhere and it starts with you not anyone else. Just because we live in a manipulative system we don't have to get manipulated! We don't! #bethechange#healyourself#beconnected#beconcious#raiseyourvibration#raiseyourfrequency#highvibrations#lifeisbeautiful#collectiveconsciousness#healer#healerlife#beyourself ❤️ #loveyourself#meditate#concious#livelife
