We made 17 folding tables for the Walkley Community Centre eight or nine years ago, and we’ve been sanding them back and giving them a re-finish today, to keep the 9mm birch plywood tops and locally sourced beech frames in good working order for another few years. They’ve certainly taken some hammer over the years, used for well over 120 cabarets as well as numerous parties, live events and workshops at the centre on Fir Street here in Sheffield. Glad to see that apart from some dents they are all doing fine.
🇬🇧When studying old antique wooden planes, one quickly begin to see small discrepancies in details compared to what today is considered conventions and standards. The more one study, the more one realises that some of these conventions might not be correct or absolute.
Here are some of my 69 planes from Peter Duessing and as far as I can tell, he actually orient the annual rings in regards to the profile of the sole in every single plane. So it seems that durability was more important than stability in the bed, in every single plane I have.
Hot and Sour Soup is perfect on these cold, wintry days!
A soup for everyone as based on ingredient choice, it can accommodate carnivores, vegetarians, and vegans.
Of course my husband doctored the recipe to his own liking and loaded it up with FF&F mushrooms!!! :-) :-) :-) http://12tomatoes.com/hot-sour-soup/ "but I double the recipe, quadruple the mushrooms and vinegar, add udon noodles, use sriracha, and use a whole rotisserie chicken". Last night's version had shiitake, beech, and pioppino. I love the beech and the pioppino not only because of their pleasing flavor and texture but because they are visually appealing. :-) Next time you are at @wwfarmersmkt or @southdurhamfarmersmarket, load up on a variety of mushrooms and give this recipe a whirl. It's one of my faves, hands down!
