Pukkelpop, you were great!
For me, First Aid Kit and Band of Horses were just brilliant, my highlights of the three days I think.
I thoroughly enjoyed Mumford and Sons and Bear's Den too. Shame and At The Drive In were good additions to break up the day of folk indie leanings. Other acts over the three days that stick in the mind, Intergalactic Lovers, Stormzy, Strands of Oaks, Amazons and Ryan Adams.
I think PKP has some lessons to learn from this year. More covered areas (the rest/relaxation area back of the main stage was so exposed to the weather), the return of The Shelter (maybe a Lift Shelter), the return of poffertjes and I think a smaller 'introducing' stage like the Lift Stage was last year would be a great addition located in the section to the right of the entrance. Bands/Artists on this stage could be new, ones to watch, even unsigned. The cafe was great, maybe it could be bigger to accommodate all the thirsty drinkers of pkp ale. The new seating areas by the Lift were great, they felt comfortable, friendly and relaxed. The Cookpit was lovely, I had a great risotto in there. The Secret Album sessions seemed underused, maybe because of a lack of advertising or the location of the hut used. Hearing the bass of the energy promotion opposite was a bit distracting when listening. The Secret Room was once again fab, glad we went on day one before the Secret got out.
It was obvious from the mud that the footfall towards the Boiler Room and Dance Hall was heaviest - but only because that is where a lot of the acts promoted were playing. That's not to say other genres shouldn't be booked.
Some acts were on the wrong stages, PJ Harvey and Elbow should have been main stage, At the Drive In in the Club, Afghan Whigs and First Aid Kit in the marquee etc.
I also think that smoking shouldn't be allowed in the tents. In very confined spaces it is horrid, and you can't escape it. Anyway, I had a great time overall, let's see what next year brings! #pukkelpop#pkp17#pukkelpop2017#festival#summerfestivals#europeanfestivals#belguim @pukkelpop
