Evening thoughts: Learning from others by becoming genuinely invested in their passions. I spent most of today filming a video with the absolutely wonderful human being that is Karen Hardy. I love that we come from such different musical perspectives—when she sings like an angel, I’m belting, while she’s weaving intricate melodies, I’m concocting new upbeat guitar rhythms. Now we might just seem like two white girls writing songs, but let me put it this way—does every quarterback play the same way? Does every pro bono lawyer argue the same way? Obviously not. That’s why I’ve become passionate about investing my energy in other people’s interests. Today, adapting to Karen’s silky smooth vibe taught me how to play guitar softer, how to blend with her voice. True self-improvement comes from learning from others. So all you John Mayers, shadow a death metal guitarist. Mystery writers, read a romance novel. Read some Maya Angelou poetry if you get writers block writing your English essay. Spend a day filming a video with Karen and have the absolute best time, and end up learning more than you ever thought possible.

Do Not Worry
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? .
I was tasked with the assignment by professor @dr.g.money to post on Instagram something related to the book of Matthew. We’re Only a few weeks into 2018 and “worrying” has already become my theme song. These verses radiate the truth of worrying and the little it accomplishes. We worry about school, our family, our friends, and don’t even get me started on the future. We need to trust God with our lives. We are given the gift of surrendering our worries to him; yet time and time again we choose to wear the burden ourselves. God says we are the most valuable of all his creation. What if we believe him? What if we trust him? What if we cast our worries on him? What if.

There are two types of people who will tell you that you cannot make a difference in this world: those who are afraid to try and those who are afraid you will succeed.⚘
