“...chronic noise may be the greatest impediment to our spiritual growth. When our lives get loud, with noise filling every frequency, we lose our sense of being. We run the risk of turning into human doings rather than human beings. And when our schedules get busy, we lose our sense of balance, which is a function of the inner ear.” -Mark Batterson #always#bigfan
God speaks, not in a shouting, booming voice like in the movies, but in w h i s p e r s. Will we hear Him above the humdrum of our busy lives? How do you hear a whisper? Get close to the whisperer, sidle up, sit on their lap, ear to their mouth, eyes on their speaking lips. God wants to speak to us but we need to make time and space to honour that prized privilege. And on the regular, too. It’s not about showing up the one time and saying “ok, here I am, ready, go!” He isn’t controlled by us, by our timings, we can’t box Him in like that. It’s about faithful, repetitive showing up and looking up. Making it part of our daily, weekly, monthly rhythm turns it into our habit, which ultimately speaks into the way we do our whole life. Lessons I’m learning between the rock and the hard place ✌🏼 #rhythmoflife#markbatterson#showuplookup#godspeaks#heishere#godisgood#godlovesyou#thankyougod#godsplan#godsword#betweenarockandahardplace
This mountain is one of my oldest and dearest friends. It has literally and figuratively pulled me up and out of heartbreak, confusion, anger, depression, all the struggles that life can bring. It has also taught me a lot about strength, perserverance, perspective, beauty, and gratitude. I have hiked this mountain under the sun and under the light of the fullmoon. With friends and in solitude. I have hiked the front side and the backside. I have a scar that runs the length of my shin from falling off of this mountain. Blood, sweat, tears, love, and laughter on this mountain. I am excited to participate in such a positive project during what is such a heavy time of year for me.
