"Bumblebee Dragonling" - original 12x16" Acrylic Painting $5000 SOLD, prints & canvases available worldwide now at my Strangeling website (link in profile) - another DragonCon hotel key card design - she was for for the Hyatt Regency Atlanta! I love this painting – one of my sweet dragonlings (also available as a figurine from my “Cute as a Bug” series at the Hamilton Collection, not with a dragon though, hehe) – I gave her kind of a beautiful rococo garden background and gave her a baby dragon companion. She has such a grumpy look – I adore her – not unlike a bee ready to sting you! The vibrant purple & gold colours are there intentionally to match the colors of the DragonCon logo.
Original acrylic painting is sold, we have glossy paper prints (on sale $9.99 and $19.99, for small and large sizes) signed on the back by me, and Limited Edition Canvas giclees - 11x14", hand accented by me in acrylic paints, signed & numbered out of only 25 ever made, ready to hang - $125 each. All are at my Strangeling website at the link above, we ship anywhere in the world. Work-in-progress for "Alice Through a Vermeer Glass" - this is the original painting I'm bringing to the "Life is Beautiful" Festival in Las Vegas as part of the "Crime on Canvas" Show (Western Hotel, Downtown Las Vegas, Sept 22-24). In the early stages of laying out the painting here. I found the picture of the stained glass window (on your left hand side) in one of my books about Vermeer. Since I want this painting to be part of my "Alice in Other Lands" series (with Art History references) I wanted to make the scene in room in the painting like Vermeer's 1600s Netherlandish interiors. I scanned in the photo from the book, enlarged it and printed it out and taped it to my easel next to my painting so I can look at it while I paint it in great detail! I'm using a ruler and a very thin brush (a size 0 "Script liner" royal cleargrip brush) to plot the points out on my panel and do the underpainting/sketch.
I don't always do complete verdaccio underpaintings for my pieces, or bust out the rulers & reference photos even, but when I'm doing something very specific that I want to be recognizable as a 1600s painting, I try to go for as much accuracy as possible.
She'll eventually appear also in my "Alice in Wonderland" Oracle Deck - one of the final illustrations, for the card called "Law is Not Justice!" This is a small painting, (much like Vermeer's own)) - 9x12", original acrylic painting on panel, will be priced somewhere at $4000, will be in a period-appropriate dark bronze ornate frame about 20x22", and will be available at the Crime on Canvas Show - it's going to be a crazy awesome show, everybody from myself & Mark Ryden to Eve Plumb (Jan Brady!), SHAG, Damien Echols, Camille Rose Garcia, Marion Peck, Chet Zar and more!
Website link is/will be: http://www.mmodern.bigcartel.com/ (those not attending will also be able to purchase the painting at this link or also by emailing Jay Nailor at firstname.lastname@example.org - let him know if you might be interested in the original Jasmine Becket-Griffith painting and he can put you on the contact list.

I found this Pilot color eno pencil in a local stationary shop and I love it. It's basically a mechanical pencil with colored leads.

For Throwback Thursday, here's a detail from a favourite little painting from my adventure girl series. She's actually still available I think from Bash Fine Art. She's not a large work so she's very affordable if you are on the lookout for one of my paintings in the US. Yay no big shipping fees!!!! Talk to the lovely Anthony about adopting her today.
