I cringed at the crystal chandelier that hung from the dining room ceiling of the house I bought. She felt too fancy and formal above my dining room table, making anything but lace curtains and doilies seem like inappropriate decor.
So down she came, complete with layers of dust caked on during previous ownerships and the new layer created when I forgot to protect her from the floors being sanded and refinished :/ Unfortunately she hung too low for bathroom or closet installation, which I felt were fabulously appropriate relocations. But I wasn't ready to part with her.... she lurked in a corner of my basement for longer than I will admit.
Now, while watching Stardust (huzzah for fairy tales!) it's a good time to give her new purpose and pass her on. Dad will appreciate a whimsical birdfeeder to hang from the maple tree :) #chandelier#birdfeeder#diygirl#diyworld#forthebirds#memories#progresspic#projectgirl#repurpose#repurposeful#wip#whimsyisontheway
My squirrel obviously loves safflower seeds. Ugh. So much for trying that deterrent. My fingers and toes are crossed this feeder stays his and he leaves the other ones alone. If not, I'll have to go back to greasing their pole. #hatesquirrels#birds#birdfeeder#squirreldeterrent
Thr first "gift" I got from the large black bird was a small plastic red cap. I didn't think anything of it at first and assumed trash had blown into the yard. Then the lego showed up under the bird feeder 3 days ago. Today I had 2 scraps of paper and a bud! This new black bird looks too small to be a crow but it is bigger than the typical black birds you see all over down here so I am not sure what it is yet. I just think it is amazing to see that kind of awareness/gratitude in a small animal like that! #crow#blackbird#gifts#nature#birdfeeder#amazing
My investment in backyard bird feeding has gotten out of control! But I enjoy the payoff. I bought a new, squirrel proof, feeder (in foreground). It has spring loaded traps which close with the weight of a squirrel, or so the theory goes. The birds are digging it already, along with new seed mix. I also finally put out my hummingbird feeder in the front yard. #crazybirdlady
