So this last weekend was very eventful for Nicole! While she traveled to Kansas City, MO for the last leg of the Triple Crown without me, she had a very successful weekend. She did not win any awards but what she won was SO MUCH MORE. Nicole has been making lots of changes of the past several weeks, some of which did not work. Since there weren't going to be many in her division (recurve), we opted to register her in the Compound Freestyle Division for this event. She was competing against a whole different class of bows.
Again, while she did not "place" at the tournament, she received a personal best BOTH DAYS and was able to hold her own in this extraordinarily hard category. Proving to herself that she could do this, meant more to her than any award could.
Our wins aren't always packaged in a placement, medal or trophy- they are in our own personal gains and moving forward!
As always I am always proud of this girl! ❤ Mom!!! Posted by April - Mom

Here’s the story of my blown, easy opportunity I had to take a buck last September. I had crawled into range on an ears wide 2 point with one eye guard, making him barely legal. 3rd day of the season. The buck had a nice a frame still draped in velvet,. and being from Washington, when I glassed that eye guard, it was game on. I was kneeling with a jack pine to my right, brush in front of me and a buck 12 yards away standing broadside (I ranged it after I shot). The buck was right behind the trees in the photo, head to the left and his front shoulder right behind the tree I hit. I knew my time was limited and if I could get a shot off I was taking it. I started to draw back and realized my top limb was in the tree branches to my right, I had to shuffle over on my knees and draw back again. I was the most calm and collected i had ever been on shot at a live animal. I hit anchor, aimed, went through my shot execution flawlessly and then the shot broke. I could not believe it when I heard the sound of my arrow sticking into that tree. I thought there was no way in hell I could miss. I knew my arrows were stiff and that could’ve caused my arrow to plane off course. But either way, I blew an easy shot and was 100% confident, I’m glad I missed and didn’t wound the buck, but it was a hard pill to swallow. That’s the last time I’ll walk into the woods with a less than perfectly tuned rig. I ate all my tags this year and it just makes me hungrier to get after it that much harder this year. It was my goal take a buck last year with a longbow and I kinda wish I would’ve shot a doe, but , no regrets! I’m not very good with words but, hopefully that paints a picture. Thanks for reading! I hope everybody has their best year yet in 2018! #getafterit#nomore#tagsoup#tradlife#blackeaglearrows#trueflightfeathers 🤣 #i ❤️muledeer #notamuleyslayer#goals#strikerbows#longbow#selwayquivers#controlledprocessshooting#andistillmissed
