'Some days you wake up changed. This was one for Starling, she could tell. What she had seen yesterday at the Potter Funeral Home had caused in her a small tectonic shift. Starling had studied psychology and criminology in a good school. In her life she had seen some of the hideously offhand ways in which the world breaks things. But she hadn’t really known, and now she knew: sometimes the family of man produces, behind a human face, a mind whose pleasure is what lay on the porcelain table at Potter, West Virginia, in the room with the cabbage roses. Starling’s first apprehension of that mind was worse than anything she could see on the autopsy scales. The knowledge would lie against her skin forever. [...]'

There's just something that never fails to fascinate us about criminal minds, don't you think? (That's why Criminal Minds is one of my all-time favourite TV series 😂🙈)
I included a mix of historical and fictional killers in this pic, but none of the more recent and heinous ones. These were some of the most dangerous and savage individuals of their time (or respective story) though, so I believe the result is fairly consistent with the prompt's purpose 👍📷
Everyone knows about Jack the Ripper and the Whitechapel Murders of 1888; many factors contributed to make him the darkest and almost legendary killer of all. Gilles de Rais fought alongside Jeanne d'Arc against the English, but he was also a very active murderer of children and young people during the 1400s; he was the real figure behind the inspiration for Bluebeard's tale. 🏰💀
Elizabeth (Erszébet) Báthory, also known as the Bloody Countess, tortured and killed numerous young women who served under her in her Hungarian castle between the 16th and 17th century. Legend has it that she was actually a vampire, and bathed in her victims' blood to remain young. 💍🌌
The popularity of the Bluebeard tale is due to French writer Charles Perrault, who's responsible for the first known literary version published in #1697 ✍🏻 (Interestingly enough, The Robber Bridegroom, which is a variant of the tale, has an even older recorded history, going back to 1590 🤔) As with any fairy tales (and stories in general), I enjoy reflecting on different angles and interpretations 💭Aside from the usual maiden-killer and women's curiosity themes, what triggered the first murder? And what's the symbolism behind his blue beard, which the girls dislike? (his sadness perhaps?) Is he, in his own way, just trying to find the one who won't 'betray' him? 🔹🔷🔹
Frequently referenced in literature—from Stephen King to Margaret Atwood—the many forms of the story keep inspiring 💙A few such books with allusions to Bluebeard include the great Jane Eyre, Gaskell's gothic short story "The Grey Woman" and Frost's Fitcher's Brides 📚
On another happy note, my recent KonMari purge resurfaced the lovely @thegloomth cotton bloomers I had stashed away—perfect time to bring them out! 😜😄

Felidae arrived. Running it through my VCR and cleaning the heads to try to fix the picture and sound (and yes it's just this tape) it has Thai subtitles but they're not distracting enough to take away from the movie. And yes it's in PAL format 8Y #felidae#claudandis#francis#bluebeard#vhs#videocassette
Why use a beard wash? Beard washes such as ours @bluebeardsusa helps fight ingrown hairs, and promotes healthy hair growth. You never want to use a standard hair shampoo on your face. The hair on your head, is different from the hair on your face.
