Remember the fallen. 💙💙💙Consider piecing a few #bluerkblocks for @craftycop using @heritage.threads tutorial (link in her profile) in your spare time this week. On a practical side, they go together super-fast. But in your heart, you will never imagine how sad and glad and mad you can feel in just a few minutes of sewing, thinking about the officers and their families and the continuing need for these quilts. Show love to the special community of first responders, front line heroes, and their families as they grieve. #charityquilting#fallenofficers#islandtimequilting
I am so excited to be helping out with @craftycop's #blueRKblocks project! I just got the top and back that @mamakiljoy made for this most worthy cause..
Thank you, @elizabethst.paperie
for the darling notepad! So sweet!
Working on 26 blue blocks for the amazing project @craftycop is the heart behind. 💙 The completed blocks are being made into quilts for the families of fallen police officers. I truly wish that there wasn't a need for them. There is no deadline so please consider joining us and make some blocks, even just 1 helps. @craftycrop is a private account so just ask to join. I will happily share pattern information. #blueRKblocks
I had a wonderful suprise waiting for me today. My sweet quilter finished the #bluerkblocks quilts!!! It came out beyond gorgeous. Sharon did a wonderful job quilting it. Not only did she donate her talents, she also supplied the batting and thread. I'm consistently amazing at how kind the quilty community is. Now off to bind it and mail it back to Jessica.
If you are unfamiliar with #bluerkblocks , the tutorial to make these stunning yet simple blocks is link on @heritage.threads profile. @craftycop is organizing this effort to provide the family of fallen police offers a hug made of fabric, thread and love.
My first Saturday in months without 100blocks and as promised I'm posting what I'm working on. ✔
My #stashbee2017 turn as Hive Mama is September and as you know I've been sewing blue blocks for @craftycop #bluerkblocks 💙and I got to thinking about them together.
So as I was doodling #RKBLOCKS in a meeting (we all doodle blocks in meetings right?) I thought what goes with a kiss? Well a hug of course so I started doodling hugs. When I got home i rummaged through the internets and couldn't find a pattern so I designed this! I'm calling it my Hug-O block.
It's pretty simple but I've written a tutorial with plenty of pics if anyone is keen just DM and I'll send it along.
I love @tulapink and @cottonandsteel - just saying😊
@loreedoo was SO generous and donated this beautiful set of Aurifil thread as a prize for making #bluerkblocks to support @craftycop great charity. I was the lucky recipient! Lovely thread! Thank you again.
All set for #bluerkblocks events this weekend.
Join me at the Neptune Beach Senior Activity Center tomorrow, Friday, 8-18 from 9 am til 1 pm.
Sat, 8-19 at the Viking Gallery at the Town Center between 10 and 4 pm and again on Sunday, 8-20 between 10 and 7 pm. What better way to test drive a fabulous Viking machine than sewing up a Bluerkblock. All supplies will be available.
Forgive the lighting but I just HAD to post this tonight. My #bluerkblocks top for @craftycop is done!!! It was so fast and easy, it took less than three hours to design, sew, and press. If you have free time to help sew tops you should contact @craftycop for more info. I am so grateful she has started this movement and I hope to help more in the future. @orchidowlquilts tag your it! Time for some quilting my friend 💓. #bluelivesmatter#kqdesign#quiltersrock
First things first in the sewing room. Prepping 10 #bluerkblocks for @craftycop. Remember it's never to late to help make some blocks for fallen police officers families. Lots of blocks and quilts are being created and every block or task is welcomed. Plan to get them done this week!
Working on a few #bluerkblocks this afternoon because #itsbetterthanwashingdishes and my littles are doing their reading. But seriously, ya'll, these blocks are easy peasy and go by quickly. Just be sure to square your "kiss" to 9 inches. Also a thought, reduce your stitch length when attaching the final triangles. This helps ensure whomever is making them into a quilt doesn't need to do a little mending from the seams pulling apart during transit.
I finally had a chance to send the #bluerkblocks I made to @craftycop, and guess what, I won a prize! 😀 @oneygirl50 offered to send a fat 1/8 pack of @cottonandsteel fabric to the person who sent in the 1510th block to @craftycop, and that lucky person was me. (Thats A LOT of blocks people!) Hurray! @craftycop is still collecting blocks so check out her page if you'd like to help.
Jessica @craftycop is collecting #bluerkblocks to be made into quilts for the families of fallen officers. We all wish there was no need for the comfort quilts but sadly there is. And many have answered the call for blocks, up to 1530 as of today. And I am paying it forward with a prize for block number 1583 with this fabulous book and a few charm packs as well. •
Update: thank you to everyone that reached out to help! What a wonderful feeling and community.
I had a really productive weekend camping and busting through my stash (don't tell my husband that I still have more) and cutting blocks for the #bluerkblocks project. I find myself drawn to this project, doing something kind for a stranger, something good and made out of love and at such a dark time. I love getting involved with something meaningful and feel like I can't do enough for this project . So much so that I find myself with a really good problem; I've cut more blocks than I can get sewn in the near future. I cut 75 blocks 😃. Is there anyone that would be interested in helping to sew them? It's an easy pattern and I'd be happy to ship them to you.
Cannot wait to contribute to this labor of love for fallen officer families. ▫️ Thank you @craftycop for uniting IGers for a heart-filled symbol of our support.
Jessica @crafycop is a Police Officer and a quilter, who just hit her anniversary date of 16 years. (Thank you Jessica). A little over a month ago, she posted about her desire to do something for the families of fallen officers. She wanted these families to know that more than police officers care about their spouses, children, mothers, fathers, and siblings, being killed. She decided to make a quilt for one of the most recent families of a fallen officer. That sparked an idea. Why not ask her IG friends to send her some #bluerkblocks to make a few quilts. Although she and everyone else wishes the quilts made from these blocks would never be needed or used. The sad reality is, they most likely will. So she put a call out for blocks. And they came. Many of them. And then backs, binding, and batting came. Lots of it. And then our quilty IG friends wanted to inspire others to make blocks and send them. So they offered up prizes. And everyone blew the socks off Jessica. Today 20 kits have been sent out (long arm quilters have been donating their talents as well) and there are enough blocks to make over 30 quilts as of today. Prizes have and are being given for a certain number of block when it arrives to Jessica. And the awesomeness of this quilty IG community is just. well. awesome. Thank you @craftycop for all that you have done and continue to do. This is a full time job on top of your already full time job. I think I can speak for all those that have contributed - you rock! The photos in this post are reposted from Jessica's feed and come from the following IG'ers. @bluespoolquilts @tracybugcreative @kbsant @my_life_in_quilt_pieces
Look at the happy mail i received yesterday! I feel honored and thrilled to participate so fully in this project. Please read this repost from @pleasant.home that says it best (sorry your repost got cut off in my repost process!) Please help Jessica @craftycop if you want to be involved in something that gives quilty love and hugs to people who are hurting so much. As I am a policemans' daughter myself I can tell you this will mean a lot to the families. Thank you for your dedication as a police woman and for steering us in this project Jessica! #blueRKblocks @craftycop

[see all 3 of my posts today for the full story] Here are a few #blurkblocks (blue raspberry kiss blocks) that will be making their way to Jessica @craftycop this week. 💙
Super easy to make! (and kinda addicting).😌The original tutorial was for a small block from Rachel at @rachelwoodenspoon that Jen @heritage.threads resized. Thanks girls !
You can find cutting instructions for the #bluerkblocks 12.5" size at Jen's blog @heritage.threads. ✂️🗒
And a photo tutorial on how to make the block on Rachel's blog at @rachelwoodenspoon 📷🗒
Send @craftycop a DM for the address to send your blocks to. 📬
Even if you make one block and stick it in an envelope and mail it. It will be greatly appreciated. ✉️📫♥️
And who knows. You might win a prize! (i.e. if you send in a block that ends up being the 1,680th block received. You'll win a #rulerpal / #pinbowl combo 💙)
[see all 3 of my posts today for the full story] I wanted to contribute in some way to Jessica's @craftycop's quilt block initiative #bluerkblocks (quilts for the families of fallen officers). I feel blessed to be among one of Jessica's many IG friends, and I'm in awe at what she's been able to accomplish with the help of quilters in the IG community, in such a short amount of time.
So here's a little giveaway in the hopes of inspiring you to make a few blocks, that Jessica is in need of. 💙 If you send in block #1680 this aqua/blue goodness will be yours (along with a couple surprise goodies😉) 💙 I'll post more details about #bluerkblocks later this morning. But you can follow the hashtag to get an idea of all the goodness goin on. #pleasanthomepinbowls#pinbowls#rulerpals#pleasanthomerulerpals#rileyblakedesigns#bluerkblocks#quiltsforfallenofficers#quilt#block1680
Weekend sewing done. Big batch of #bluerkblocks heading out to @craftycop to be made into quilts for the families of fallen officers. A very very worthy cause - check out her feed or the #bluerkblocks if you'd like to jump on board! ☺
My fist #bluerkblocks for the quilts @craftycop is putting together. These quilts will go to the families of fallen police officers throughout the country. She has had an incredible response after calling for more blocks!! Last I saw, I think Jessica has collected enough blocks for more than 30 quilts!! Much of the materials for batting, backing and binding have been donated. -
I've wanted to send some in for awhile and am finally getting to the sewing. I have enough cut out for 5 blocks.
I pray that these quilts will bring peace and comfort to those that receive them at such a difficult time.
Bad nighttime light doesn't show that these #bluerkblocks for @craftycop really are blue! I was a little nervous to make them at first, but they really were fun blocks to make and very forgiving, since everything gets trimmed up at the end. Thank you, Jessica, for such a worthy cause! I feel privileged to participate. 💙
I haven't done any quilting for months, but made sure to sit down today and get some #bluerkblocks sewn to send to @craftycop. If you haven't heard about this, please go check out her feed. She has organized a drive for these blocks to make quilts for the families of police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. It has been amazing to see the quilting community come together, offering so much more than just blocks. Her IG feed inspires me daily. Thank you, Jessica, for all of your hard work and dedication in organizing all of this. Stay safe out there. 💙💙💙
@crazyoldladies! I was just about to cut up this little over 2.5 yards for miles of binding for @craftycop #bluerkblocks quilts and remembered you saying you loved this blue grunge. Would you like to trade it for any other blue yardage I can make binding with before I chop into it? It's the blue that matches PB&J... #wheelinanddealin
Working on #bluerkblocks for quilts that will be given to families of fallen officers. Thank you @craftycop for doing this, @heritage.threads for the tutorial and @blossomandbev for bringing it to my attention! God bless you all! #thinblueline#sewing#quilting
Would you like to win this Riley Blake Forget Me Not fat quarter bundle by Tammie Green? All you have to do is be the person who sends @craftycop the 1471st #bluerkblocks . Please help this wonderful cause and at the same time have a chance to win some really great prizes! Make one or many blocks to send in. The blocks are being used to make quilts for the families of fallen officers. The requested blocks have blue centers and low volume backgrounds. You can use the 12 1/2" raspberry kiss block tutorial from @heritage.threads and find lots of inspiration under the hashtag #bluerkblocks . DM @craftycop to find out where to send them. The person who sends in the 1471st block will get this fat quarter bundle! And spread the word ❤️so we can all help! #fabric#quilting#winthis#quiltblocks
Working on my #bluerkblocks this morning before heading to the mtns. If you haven't heard about it please take a moment to read about the service project by @craftycop. She put out a request to the quilting community for Blue RK blocks that will be pieced by volunteers and then quilted again by volunteers and once finished the beautiful quilt will be given to the families of a fallen officer. It is gut wrenching that there is a need in our country for such a gift of comfort and warmth, but it warms my heart to be a part of something so great. Over 1,200 blocks have been donated to date, bindings, backings, and quilting services as well as money to help with shipping. I've packed my bag with more fabric and remnants from my stash and hoping to cut another 30 blocks! #backtheblue#quiltingcommunity#quiltingcommunityisawesome#supportcops#sewing#thegreatfabricdestash#fabric#supportourcops#quilt#quilting
These are the last two of the #bluerkblocks . How sad is it that out of all the bajillion fat quarters that I have, I only have 4 blue prints? It's incredible. The #tulapink prints are my favorite. These will be sent to @craftycop This next week along with some scrappy binding. Thanks for letting me help out with a worthy cause.
Whoever donated this @cottonandsteel fabric for the back of a #bluerkblocks quilt donated so much extra. There is 2+yards extra that will be going to use on baby quilts I think. As well as i had enough from the edges of the backing after it was quilted to make enough binding for another quilt and make 4 more blocks. See I feel guilty not using every usable piece I can. I even feel guilty putting the 4" edge piece I have left in my scrap box except I can't think of a way to use it. @craftycop this plus the finished quilt left over binding and thread will all he headed back to you today.
Found these at Dollar Tree today. One in each box. They're in the "laundry" department. They'll be great for me to deliver TShirt Quilts to my clients or to use for Quilts we mail to Jessica. Like all quilters, I can't resist anything to store or "tote" projects back and forth. #bluerkblocks#storagebag#patchworkbypaula .net
Tagged by @silkandtweed.scotland WIDN. 2nd try with the #bluerkblocks . Have the center squared at 9", and now it's time to attach the sides. Spent 30 minutes cleaning Hello Lovely; SO MUCH lint under the stitch plate. C is enjoying her last few days of summer (school starts next Tuesday), and is reading on Epic, and playing with Lego. Rainy, rainy here in Atlanta, and is supposed to rain throughout the week and weekend. That is WIDN. Tagging @joydicksonquilts & @tahnahasl. Would y'all like to tell us what you're up to? 😘🤗
I'm back from Missouri! It was such an amazing trip and I had a ton of fun! This pretty package with a kit of blue raspberry kiss blocks was waiting for me when I got here! I'm so honored to be able to help with this wonderful cause! #bluerkblocks
I'm hoping most of you have heard of the amazing work @craftycop is doing, collecting #bluerkblocks to make quilts for family members of officers killed in the line of duty. As a former hospice bereavement coordinator, I have seen first hand how tangible reminders of loved ones and kindness from strangers can impact grieving families. I love supporting all the wonderful quilters out there who are making blocks. So I'm giving away a pack of fabric washi to the awesome sauce people who make blocks 1411, 1583, and 1616. Will it be you?!
I've been working on a project coordinated by @craftycop and LOTS of quilters to make blocks for Quilts to give to families of fallen police officers. I've had such a wonderful time doing this that I had to devote this project carton to set aside fabric for future blocks. If you haven't already, please follow @craftycop and get involved. It's an amazing and worthwhile project. #bluerkblocks#policeofficers#policehero
Have you ever started a project out thinking, "Oh, I am so going to ROCK this!", and then afterward you realize that not only did you not rock it, but you kind of blew it? 😂 Well, I wanted to make one of @heritage.threads Raspberry Kiss blocks for the quilts that @craftycop is so graciously heading up (for families of fallen policemen - #bluerkblocks ). I have little to no blue in my stash, but I did recently get sent a charm pack of Boundless, so I thought I'd cobble together some of that and make it work. I now know just how much I need to learn. A little dose of humility for my Tuesday morning! All I can say, Jessica, is that at least it is 12.5" square. I am not deterred though, and plan on giving it another go this afternoon.
Would you like to win this 21 piece fat quarter bundle? All you have to do is send in the 1500th #bluerkblocks to @craftycop and her amazing effort to make quilts for families of fallen police officers families. The response has been overwhelming so far. Sadly, As it will be an ongoing project she will continue to need our support. You can read more about it by checking out the #bluerkblocks hashtag, and you can DM @craftycop for her address if you'd like to help out and send a few. The blocks are 12.5 unfinished raspberry kiss blocks with blue centers and low volume backgrounds. @heritage.threads has a tutorial link in her profile for the blocks. The make up very quickly, so maybe you can make a few. There are also other prizes for reaching other goals. Thanks to everyone who has helped this project get this far already. What an amazing community we have.
Thank you so much for your generosity @pinkdoorfabrics !💙💙 it blows my mind by doing thank you for your service project by @craftycop that so many people are giving away awesome prizes!🙆♀️💙❤ Please, if you have a few minutes, head on over to @craftycop IG acct, request to follow and find out how to donate blue quilt squares to the familys of officer's killed in the line of duty!
That you so much Chelsea for your generosity!❤❤ #bluerkblocks
Not often do I have a cause that really just grabs hold of my heart. But after watching countless men and women send in blocks, make binding, quilt, and ship these blocks I knew i needed to be part of it. I had just cleaned up my stash (moving it for one place to another) and realized I had an abundance of basically everything so I cut a few #bluerkblocks to send to the cause. Then a cut a few more and then finally just decided to make the whole quilt top. Each one of these blocks holds memory and love from the fabric that had been used in quilts already and i hope the recipient feels that also. Tomorrow I go to pick up backing and binding so I can just skip the process of them having to send it everywhere to get finished.
Go visit @craftycop and consider sending some blocks, even one if that's what you have time for.
Want to win this super custom rainbow Cotton + Steel jelly roll I made? Make some #bluerkblocks for @craftycop and be block 1729! I'm so thankful for the IG quilt community and people like her who give us all the chance to bring comfort to the families of fallen officers through the work of our hands. 💙💙💙
Fabric pulling! If you live under a rock and somehow have missed @craftycop's #bluerkblocks drive, she is collecting blue blocks using @heritage.threads's tutorial and they will be used for quilts for the families of fallen police officers. While this is reason enough to make two or three or six... there are also a ton of prizes for those sending in blocks! Jump on the band 🚙! I mean 🚂!!!
