Back in 2010 when I moved home to Newfoundland I saw my first ever Tufted Duck. From a distance these little diving ducks seem very bland with their black and white feathers. As you get closer to them their unique characteristics begin to shine. A head turn right or left and their hair style is revealed..a ponytail...I mean who would have ever thought a duck would have a pontail? ok ok I know they call it a tuft hence why they are called Tufted Ducks but come on we know its a ponytail. Then with the right light and angle their true color is on display...purples and greens blast through the darkness for all to see..#wildlifephotography

Male Variegated Fairy Wren
Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, NSW, Australia. Striking colours on this little fella, what female could resist such a handsome mate! This species is located in numerous habitats across most of Australia, it prefers to hunt for food on the ground in dense thickets of vegetation, its favourite munchies are small insects and seeds.
🍀 While searching for Swift Parrots high in the blossoming Spotted Gum, we came across this shy Chestnut-Rumped Heathwren. This secretive bird lives in low, dense vegetation, scuttling along the bush floor looking for a bush snack! I was super lucky to get a snap as they are always deep in the dense undergrowth! - Hylacola pyrrhopygia #chestnutrumpedheathwren
Spread Your Wings.
Swans are a common sight in lakes around Switzerland. They casually take a pause and relax at the harbour, park, or even at public exercise area sometimes. After all, these graceful bodies must come from hard work and determination.
Had the pleasure of handling this incredible New Zealand Falcon, Fern, while at the @brancottestate. Never tried taking photos of a bird of prey before. Very fast! Reminded me of when I used to shoot motorsport! @brancottestate supports the Malborough Falcon Trust to protect and restore its endangered population. #dror4brancottestate#brancottestate
