Fishing Reel Necklace Actually Works!! (Swipe Right!) I wonder how much drag this has for catching 10lb bass! 😅😅😅 Definitely adding this Gulf Coast Jewelry piece to my wish list!
Today we filled a boat with people from all over the world so we’d split the price 12 ways. We hopped on a tour through a mountainous region where they shot the newest King Kong movie. Crawling vines draped all the trees up on the mountains creating a lush green backdrop.
We entered into the mouth of a big cave and the Vietnamese tourists on our boat were bossing the tour guide around and telling him to go wherever they wanted. We were annoyed they were trying to change the tour that we paid for, and we had no idea what they were saying. Finally I snapped at one guy when he smacked me and made a lighter motion with his hand. I tried to introduce manners to him to say “please,” but he shook his head and tried elsewhere. ☝️
They stopped the motor in the cave and began rowing and pushing off the walls with their hands. Lights glinted off glittering tubes of crystal and gold and turquoise sands created surreal sea-like creatures and shapes in the stalactites.
After thick slices of homemade banana bread with local honey, fruits, and toasted peanut sauce, we waited for the bus to Hué. When the bus came an hour late after giving a tour, we tried to get a discount, but they’re not really about customer service here in Asia.
Hué was a cute little city with lots of restaurants and rambunctious tourists running from bar to bar. For dinner, I ordered Bun Bo Hué (famous noodle soup with beef brisket slices and crab meatballs that originated in Hué). I couldn’t manage the meatballs, but the rest of the soup was delish!
A woman selling intricately carved pop-up cards began opening and tossing cards on the table in front of us. Before we could tell her to stop, there were at least 50 cards strewn around already. We were obligated to buy something so she’d pack up and let us eat, so I bought a super cool pop-up temple card. Some of us retreated to an alley for a smoke break since the lady and her forceful sales tactics were stressing us out a little. A drunk hotel receptionist flounced over to us singing Beatles songs, Frank Sinatra, and Lion King songs with epic vocal thrusts and all the wrong lyrics. People here are hilarious!
