Just wanted to show my back progress that has been built from a combination of strength and hypertrophy training. I normally only deadlift once a week with a progressive overload or training to get higher weights after training blocks, afterwords I do differing machine, cable, or dumbbell exercises for whichever muscle weaknesses I have.
A year ago I had a significant weakness with very small traps. So I focused my extra exercises on my weakness and made them into a strength! Now my goal for muscle building is to increase my lat's size and width.
You don't have to be big fat turd if you want to powerlift or weightlift! If you want to increase muscle size work them into your program to enhance your primary goal 🤳💪 #bodybuild#powerlifting#back#rowsforthehoes
Strong Bastard 911 has come and gone, The New project is to turn myself into a monster, focus on building my lifts up and bulking up to whichever weight gets me there fastest. I'm sitting at around 185lbs so I'm 10lbs heavier than the weight I was st when I got my leanest this summer. I have used @avatarnutrition for the last 5 months and I'm thoroughly impressed. It makes dieting pretty damn fool proof. I didn't lose much lean muscle when I dieted down 20lbs and I feel that as of now I haven't put on an unreasonable amount of fat. I feel great eating around 4000 calories a day (got down to as low as 1950 a month ago..). Program is Jim Wendlers "God is a Beast", weight training 4 times a week and BJJ 2-3 times (Purple Belt soon). Obviously strength will be down temporarily during this prep. I've just had to accept as I lose weight, I will lose some strength. It's inevitable. However, first time getting under some heavy weight in a few weeks and still managed to skwaat 405x5, 425x3, and 455x1. Cant be too ashamed with that as I only weigh 202 today lol. And trust me. My hips and ass are feeling it now. Nothing better than that arthritis feeling 😅🔫
Today while training I noticed an elderly man watching me with this expression 😮... usually when the men watch it’s lIke 😎 or 🤡 or 😛 and I’m like 👊🏿 or 👎🏿 or 🖕🏿🖕🏿🖕🏿...he then approached me and ask how much I was lifting. I responded. And he asked ‘and you are a woman?’ I nodded yes. He then proceeded to tell me that he was 88 years old and his doctor told him he has to have surgery on his kidney... but he has to put on some muscle first so the weight room is something new to him. He told me when he was 18 years old , which he assured me be once was, he trained for the Olympics in some kind of running...I couldn’t understand him fully over his thick accent... he grew up being an athlete then he just stopped training for running and everything just got weak and small. He then told me he’s never seen a woman who truly looked like a woman but lifted what I was lifting. He told me how amazed and proud he was of me even though he didn’t know me. And honestly I’ve never had an older man approve of this. He told me he’s going to go and tell his doctor what he saw at the gym. He said he’s going to tell his son what he saw at the gym. And then he told me if he was 55 years younger he would steal me ☺️☺️... I told him I’ll have to tell my husband that.. then he said if he’s anything like you please wait for me to leave the building first... he also told me that I have a gift of laughter and contagious smile, that lights up my face... and the whole room 😎🙌🏿 he told me his goal is to live to 90 years old.
