I just had a full body scan done to check my body composition ( fat / muscle / water) at @therapydiaportland with my coach/ business partner @caitlinannefitness 😊 Were gonna do it again in April at the end of our 80 day program to compare gainz 🙌 Super interesting & eye opening ( I’m higher body fat than I realized 😫 - but it just motivates me to work harder the next 12 weeks!) Cait gave me this super cute wellness journal to keep track during our program. Now we’re getting some work done & planning for our Become A Coach call on Sunday night at 7pm ( Deets in my story) Can’t wait to share with you all ⚡️💕

Buenos días!

Si apenas estás iniciando en un estilo de vida saludable o si eres avanzando seguramente ya escuchaste o leíste estas frases: "EL MÚSCULO PESA MÁS QUE LA GRASA" o "LA GRASA OCUPA 5 VECES MÁS ESPACIO QUE EL MÚSCULO"

Estas replicas que ven en la imagen son la cantidad real de 1 libra de grasa corporal y 1 libra de masa muscular.

En promedio, la densidad de la grasa es 0,9g/ml y la densidad del músculo es 1,1g/ml o en otras palabras 1 litro de grasa pesa 0,91 kg mientras que 1 litro de músculo pesa 1,06 kg.

En internet hay muchas imágenes que confunden acerca de lo que es la proporción real, lo cierto es que EL MÚSCULO ES MÁS DENSO QUE LA GRASA y por eso ocupa menos espacio aún pesando lo mismo.

Otra manera sencilla de verlo es entendiendo que la grasa SOLO OCUPA UN 15% MÁS DE ESPACIO QUE EL MÚSCULO y no 5 veces más como se ve en muchas imágenes de internet.

Klijent je već neko vrijeme u programu i nakon pomaka u startu došlo je do stagnacije, kalorijski rast tijelo nije apsorbiralo a posturalni problemi su i dalje bili izražajni što govori u prilog tome da je nužna optimizacija.
Odlučili smo se za nutritivnu ketozu, dakle značajan deficit koji mnogima teško padne do prvih rezultata. Pomak koji je ostvaren u svega 2 tjedna veći je neko u nekoliko mjeseci programa.
Struk je manji 10 cm !!!
Položaj stopala, ramena, zdjelice i trbuh govore o utjecaju na posturu dok vaga iako smo bez ugljikohidrata pokazuje nekih 2 do 3 kg manje nakon 11 dana ketoze... SAMO KALORIJA KOJU TIJELO KORISTI JE STVARNA... Kada planirate jelovnik uvijek se morate pitati što ste do sada radili u životu kako nebi trenirali u zoni na koju ste adaptirani...
Što možete i radite na treningu, dali se zbilja aktivirate ili su pokreti pretežito zglobni i elastični, kako i koliko se odmarate...

🔥 Intensity of training is on the rise for @charlotteenright; the progress she's made in terms of strength, stability (something that was definitely required a couple of months back 😅) and body composition so far are something she should be proud of.

Lean Mass (Fat Free Mass): The mass of your body that isn’t comprised of fat tissue.

Fat Mass: Fat tissue that is either subcutaneous (under the skin) or visceral (internal fat around the abdomen/organs).

Therefore, weight loss in of itself isn’t a great goal. What you want is fat loss, subcutaneous for aesthetics and visceral for health. You want to change your body composition (the proportion of fat and fat-free mass in your body).

But this is not to say that measuring your weight isn't a good simple way of determining if your losing fat. If your losing fat mass your weight will also go down.

It's a good indicator but shouldn't be the outcome goal. If anything, we want to hold onto the weight that isn't fat. That’s what will give you the shape you want.

This may bring up the common question of “Does muscle weigh more than fat?”. Answer = NO! 1kg of muscle and 1kg of fat both weigh 1kg. DOWN 3.3 lb from last week and 6.3 lb since New Year's! 🎆 4.1 lb of that was FAT. I had to step on the scale four times just to make sure I wasn't losing it. BMI is DOWN 1.1 points. Water is up 1% since New Year's 💦 Bone from 6.6% to 6.7%. Yeah, baby, yeah!

I've seen my stomach get smaller and I  love it! They my body works is it stays the same every day and after a week of following my meal plan, that's when the drop in weight happens if it's going to happen that week. Then I have a cheat meal on the weekend to reboot my metabolism and start again for a new week. This is how it works for me.

DB Goblet Skwattts - just like Julian, I also struggle with regular front squats so instead of focussing on the stabilization of the barbell I can put all my attention on the actual muscle being worked. Elevated heels to increase ROM. I've got my physio booked in for Wednesday so in other words... I'm buying myself a new back!

After a week of clean eating, zero alcohol and “being even grumpier than usual” (apparently), I am happy to tick off this week. Although I complain a lot, it’s actually been easier than I thought and I think that comes down to being really clear on my goals. 3 weeks of this intensive phase of food and then things will relax just a little. I can cope with that. .

For about 1.5 years after my concussion, I was able to maintain a lean athletic body composition I was happy about, without consistent exercise, because of healthy nutrition and lifestyle habits. .

After I hurt my knee in July and knew I couldn’t go to OCRWC, I fell into a bit of a depression and lost my motivation and let a lot of nutrition and lifestyle habits slide. I started eating foods I was intolerant to, started eating 1/2 to a full bar of dark chocolate multiple times per week instead of a square or two per day, stopped eating as much protein and veggies and started eating a lot of refined carbs. For the first time in a long time, my body composition noticeably changed for the worse and I gained weight, which only furthered my unhappiness. .

For the last 6 days I’ve returned back to the nutrition and lifestyle habits I coach my clients through and have lost 5lbs and there’s a noticeable improvement in my body composition. Some of this is obviously water weight (I was eating too much sodium with all those delicious olives) but it’s still a step in the right direction as I look to decrease by body fat percentage to 17-18% for the OCR season.

Along with the body composition change, I am feeling more energetic, not having any food cravings and not having any digestive discomfort. .

Changes in body weight always come down to energy balance and manipulating calories in vs calories out... However the mate rarely comes out as nice and meet as you may want/expect it to as the devices we have to measure (really just estimating) calories (both in and out) are not very accurate but it’s still better than nothing and points us in the right direction. Additionally, the concept of energy balance is very dynamic and fluctuates daily on both sides of the equation so it’s like trying to hit a moving target while you’re solving your math problem.

Changes in body weight always come down to energy balance and manipulating calories in vs calories out... However the mate rarely comes out as nice and meet as you may want/expect it to as the devices we have to measure (really just estimating) calories (both in and out) are not very accurate but it’s still better than nothing and points us in the right direction. ▫️Body Weight Fluctuation▫️

For anyone who regularly uses the scale to monitor progress, you will be well aware that acute, daily body weight fluctuations (gains and losses) do happen.
■
To shed some light on some of the possible avenues/factors that can influence body weight fluctuation, I’ve listed some of the more common contributors below:
■
Fluid Balance - dehydration will cause weight loss as there is less fluid in the body. 1L of fluid equates to approximately 1kg of bodyweight. Likewise, if you consume fluids prior to stepping on the scale, your body weight will increase accordingly.
■
Salt Intake – salt stimulates thirst and therefore may cause a person to drink more (acute weight gain). Salt also helps to retain water within the body. Therefore, if you eat a particularly salty meal, you are more likely to store body water which could lead to acute weight gain.
■
Muscle Damage – muscle damage from weight training and exercise can cause inflammation and associated water retention. The subsequent increase in body water can result in acute weight gain.
■
Carbohydrate Intake – with every 1g of carbohydrate we store in the body (glycogen), we also store 3g of water. So, for example, if you store 300g carbohydrates within your muscles, you will also store an additional 900g water. This equates to an additional 1.2kg of acute body weight gain.
■
Intestinal Weight – eating a high volume of food, e.g. having a treat meal after a period of dieting, increases the volume of food in the intestines which causes acute weight gain or at least may mask weight (fat) loss.
■
Stress – last but by no means least, chronic stress can cause changes in certain hormones such as cortisol. Cortisol is involved in regulating fluid balance and therefore may influence bodyweight (e.g. weight gain) through its effect on water retention.
■
Take Home Message - be sure to use a number of different methods to assess body composition progress and understand the nuances associated with body weight fluctuation. Be mindful, without being obsessive, of minor, normal, day-to-day fluctuations and do not worry about a sudden drop or gain in body weight over a 24-hour period.

So I’m checking in a little earlier than expected as I’m away at the weekend (I’d normally do this second scan 14 days into the programme) but so far quite pleased with the results compared to my scan at the beginning of this programme! 3.4% fat loss (3.6kg of fat, 3kg of which appear to have joined team muscle) I’ve upped my muscle score by 3 points (it was 19 out of a possible 24 and now stands at 22) overall I’m feeling a little leaner, a little more energetic, the carb cycling hasn’t been anywhere near as hard as I thought it was going to be & the workouts are getting easier 🤓 there may be a few glasses of champagne this weekend but nothing too overboard as I want to continue seeing these greens! Hopefully these results will help some of you who assess progress by simply using the scales, those bad boys will not help you see real progress, you & your hard work are not defined by that one number if I looked at mine I’d be drowning in a pile of biscuits right now like what’s the point it’s hardly shifted?! Happy Friday 💃 🎉 .

Too many people live in discomfort with a problem that so often can be solved.

For example if you bloat after eating, don't simply accept it, it's not a normal reaction, you can very easily have a sensitivity to a certain food. Identify the root cause and don't just look at the symptom.

Learn to listen to what your body is telling you and react to it.

You do, you just prioritise your time poorly.

Scrolling, net flicking,comparing your self to others,and generally wasting time.

Is it easy to fully switch off, hell no, I struggle daily to do so.

But if I don’t put my self in the right environment the chances are super low.

If I don’t structure it into my day, it wont happen.

Advantages, lower stress,better sleep,mindfulness,being present, time to actually analyse the day and process.

Its not hippy woo woo shit, so drop the alpha beast mode crap.

It works, simple as. And I implore you to add some to your day.

When I’m feeling kinda run down, instead of a glorious @therock style cheat meal, I just eat larger portions of the stuff that make me feel and perform awesome🥦🏋️‍♂️

I had a serving of broccoli and a raw green pepper, a small box of nori along with celery and celery seed as usual. The additions to this meal included a cob of sweet corn and a larger than usual (5.6 oz) portion of 88% beef with 2 tbsp of chia mixed in. That and I switched my bbq from the sweet to spicy 🌶😁
