It always seems to hit you overnight-you wake up sneezing with itchy, watery
eyes and a scratchy throat. Allergy sufferers know these symptoms all too
well, but for the rest us, it can be difficult to determine the difference
between allergies and the onset of a nasty cold.
The causes of allergies and illness, however, are very different. "Allergies
are due to histamines, the chemicals caused by an overactive immune system,"
explains Elizabeth Trattner, A.P.,
D.O.M., a board-certified doctor of oriental medicine and acupuncture in
Miami, Florida. "When your body thinks that something harmless like dust or
pollen is an invader, they respond and attack." On the other hand, the
common cold and seasonal flu are caused by viruses that are contagious. You can catch them by touching an exposed surface,
shaking hands, or simply being in a tight vicinity like an airplane.
So, how do you know when to suffer through your sniffles at work or when to
avoid giving whatever you've come down with to your colleagues-and their
kids? To save you the hassle of doctor's visit, here are some telltale signs
that allergies are to blame.

Kid's lunch today. Stir fry mushroom, cauliflower, wood ear mushroom, spinach and some poached chicken breast. I stir fried this in lard and some meat stock. Lightly seasoned with @naturesglorysg pink salt. I was afraid that it would be bland but the kiddos finished everything! 😄😄

Busy day! Qi Gong for the boys, Lego Ninjago, grocery shopping, cooking, fishing, etc...all the things and now time for bed.
Double batch of broth, we use it in everything. Mushroom pizzas for the boys lunches tomorrow, the mushrooms are fried up in lots of garlic butter then topped with their favourite pizza toppings and given a quick broil. Then testing a new breakfast recipe. It's got chicken, cabbage and broccoli in it and will probably be served with a big scoop of broth over it. My kids love soup for breakfast, do yours?

I've always associated gumbo with winter. Not going to lie, when I first tried @weareorganisource protein, I was a little skeptical. But I have to say this has been one of the BEST proteins that I've used. This morning I woke up in a frenzy of thoughts...things that needed to be done. All types of things that I needed to work on in and around me. As I was getting ready for the day in a flurry of thoughts, Eric came over and kissed my forehead and said, "I love you." Something I'm fortunate enough to hear every day but it hit me in a different way. I remembered the first days of falling in love, when we were completely obsessed with each other. Faults, annoying habits, broken places...nothing mattered! We wore rose colored glasses. Love has a way of making everything drip with grace. Love has a way of emphasizing your best and covering your worst. Love has a way of drawing you in to security. It expels fears and insecurity. Soo...instead of rushing, doing, and trying, today was filled with love and enjoyment and grace. We ignored the dirty laundry and messy house, overlooked the calendar, and forgot about our imperfections. We went on a leisurely lunch date, laughed, napped, and held each other close. We kindled the sweet flames of unconditional love (and then kindled the BBQ a little too much and burned the chops 😂).
