Has anyone else gotten a chance to read either book in the Surrendered series by Case Maynard? The first one is called The Surrendered and here is its description: After a financial collapse devastates the United States, the new government imposes a tax on the nation’s most valuable resource—the children.
Surrendered at age ten—after her parents could no longer afford her exorbitant fees—Vee Delancourt has spent six hard years at the Mills, alongside her twin, Oliver. With just a year to freedom, they do what they can to stay off the Master’s radar. But when Vee discovers unspeakable things happening to the younger girls in service, she has no choice but to take a stand—a decision that lands her on the run and outside the fence for the first time since the System robbed her of her liberty.
Vee knows the Master will stop at nothing to prove he holds ultimate authority over the Surrendered. But when he makes a threat that goes beyond what even she considers possible, she accepts the aid of an unlikely group of allies. Problem is, with opposing factions gunning for the one thing that might save them all, Vee must find a way to turn oppression and desperation into hope and determination—or risk failing all the children and the brother she left behind. #bookgram#booklion#booklove#booklover#booknerdigan#booknerdigans#bookworm#bookaholic#bookphotography#bibliophile#bookaddict#instabooks#bookstagram#readnowsleeplater#bookiness#bookcover#reading#yafiction#bookstagramfeature#readingissexy#yalit#bookishfeatures#blazepubrep#theunderground#blazepublishing

Remember that it's just for fun and to find inspiration, you can choose by yourself which of the challenges you want to do! And don't forget to tag your posts related to the challenge with the hashtag #autumnaesthetic17 so we can se them♥️ If you have any questions, feel free to ask me or Tilda and we'll try to answer them as soon as possible. We're really excited for this and hope you're too!
I had to use a Peter Pan quote because I couldn't find a quote from Everland that I've already used🙈

The editing looks a bit different now. 🤔 Aaahh, well, I like it!
This Draco candle is from @acourtofcandles and it smells DIVINE. I’m in love with this candle. I’m burning it right now and my room smells amazing. It’s such a calming scent! I think everyone should get this candle if you can! 😁 (They have so many options on their website guys, it’s unreal. My roommate was so mad when she found out they had an anime section and she didn’t realize it until she’d already bought all of our candles 😂)
Out last week is @emmylaybourne's latest novel #Berserker ! This pasty Saturday our Editorial Coordinator, Rebecca Munro, moderated a panel with @emmylaybourne at @morristown_festival_of_books that you can read about in our most recent newsletter!
Good evening lovely people ♥️🍁 I started reading Harper Lees 'Go Set A Watchman' today on my way to university since I read To Kill A Mockingbird in spring and thought it might be a good addition to the list. Especially in political times like these, the book is so powerful and I wondered why I haven't read it before. Did you read one or both books? 🌻 We are addicted to How to get away with nieder right now and almost through the third season - it's just impossible to stop, haha. 😅🙈 do you have any suggestion for a good Netflix or Amazon show? ♥️ lots of love to all of you. 🌙
Can you see the parents at the background? waiting for their kids lol.
What are you currently reading? I'm debating between And I Darken and A Darker Shade of magic. What do you guys think I should read first?
These are two of my most recent reads and I loved both! I finished Tower of Dawn tonight and it was so good, I’m going to give it 4.5/5 🌟 I’m so glad I decided to read The Assassin’s Blade before ToD as it does a lot of setting up for some of the main characters. Can we talk about how much I love Yrene, though?! She was definitely the stand out character in this one, also Chaol’s development made me like him again ☺️ Have you read Tower of Dawn? I’m really interested to know what other people thought of it.
Important question: the Throne of Glass series or the ACOTAR trilogy? 😏
What’s the best thing you’ve watched recently?
This photo represents my Netflix faves, Stranger Things and Riverdale 😄
I’m so excited for the next season of Stranger Things! Honestly I’m not usually into ~spooky~ things (I’m a bit of a wuss), but this show is one of my faves. The trailer for S2 has got me in the Halloween mood 🎃
"Miracles are statistical improbabilities. And fate is an illusion humanity uses to comfort itself in the dark. There are no absolutes in life, save death." - Illuminae
Hey everyone 😊
Finally #illuminae is available in German too. I already read it in englisch but wanted to own it in German. Like a lot of people I really loved that book how it was made and I also could identify with the characters. So everyone who hasn't read it yet: go now!
And to those who already read it what was your favorite quote? 💕 /Kathi
DAY 18: PLOT TWISTS AND TURNS
I don’t think everyone would classify Looking For Alaska as a book with plot twists but I would definitely say it counts. This was the first contemporary YA book I really fell in love with. I remember reading this and feeling very understood and seen. My everlasting love for John Green started here and I think this is one of the best books to read as a high schooler. Some people have Perks of Being a Wallflower; I have this. ✨
Was macht ihr gerne in eurer Freiteit also was habt ihr so für Hobbys 😊

Come state? Giornata pesante?
Hope You’re having a Wonderful week! ❤️
•Are you an introvert, extrovert or an ambivert?
Introverted slytherin here!🤷♀️✨
•I’m having a speech tomorrow in Class and OH MY GOSH I REALLY DON’T LIKE SPEAKING INFRONT OF PEOPLE. 💕
•also, due to extreme amounts of homework and essays to do, my art and reading will be put on hold this week. (Any Students relate?👋)
when you want to smell the ocean but don't want to do the commute ~ this @caendemingco candle from @vellabox smells so gooood. 🙌🏼 i can't wait for my whole room to smell like it 🌊
What's your favorite candle scent? Also do you have a candle subscription? I know a lot of people on bookstagram do and was genuinely curious about how y'all like it!
The year is winding down and I've only read 40 books so far, which is pretty low for me. But I've also written some books, so I'm trying to let myself off the hook. Currently reading Gemina - I reread Illuminae last week and loved it just as much as I did the first time. I heard mixed things about the sequel and it took me forever to get around to reading it, but so far I REALLY like it. And it's inspiring some spacey ideas for me, which is always fun...🌙💫☄️
“In those days spirits were brave, the stakes were high, men were real men, women were real women and small furry creatures from Alpha Centauri were real small furry creatures from Alpha Centauri.”
- Douglas Adams

I’m nearing 20,000 words in my #wip !!!
I’ve spent so much time building this novel, compiling hours of research, working with ideas and themes to fully encompass what I believe needs to be written. Sometimes I can forget why I started writing this work. I’m thankful for quiet days like this where I can reflect on past notes to ground myself, and can drawback on great thinkers like Carl Jung.
I have felt so fulfilled in this project. I’m feeling very thankful for it today.
It took me a month but I've FINALLY finished this enormous book! It was a journey, to say the least 😥
Where do I start... The premise of this book was SO GOOD. I know it's been done before so many times, but this felt like a really unique take on 'the butterfly effect' and I loved how it all tied together nicely at the end.
However, why the heck was it so long when not that much actually happened!? I'm a huge fan of long books usually, and I love slow burners where not that much happens but you get inside the characters' heads and get to know them so well. But this one was TOO long. And the only character you really get to know is Ferguson. It's a lot of time to spend with one guy. So yeah, I think this book could do with some serious editing.
The other thing I didn't like very much is how each story was too similar. I know that's sorta the point, he's still the same guy making decisions about his life, but there was an opportunity for him to go to the war in Vietnam, which would have given one of his selves a very interesting story line. But instead he's basically living similar lives in each story, just switch out the love interest, college and relationship with his parents.
As you'll all probably know from my multiple posts about this book (sorry 😂), I did enjoy it. I liked reading about each Ferguson and guessing where each story was going to lead him. But I also had some issues with it, and I definitely would not recommend it unless you are into slow and long books.
Ps I made a comparison between this and The Goldfinch earlier on in the book, and I'd like to retract that now because The Goldfinch is miles better.
If you read all of this, go you 👏 .
