As moms, wives, business owners, employees, friends, we tend to put others before ourselves. But....if we don’t take care of ourself, we won’t have anything to give to those we love or those we work for. As someone who deals with both depression & fibromyalgia, I have learned that pushing myself too far too often leads to my body shutting down. Learn your limits, listen to your body - mentally, physically, spiritually - and let go of the need to always put yourself at the end of the “to do” list.
Answer: "Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read." - Groucho Marx // Getting into YA & kids fiction again. Such awesome finds lately. 👍 // #escapefrommrlemoncelloslibrary
This picture is from the most beautiful hike I have ever been on! I went last Monday and fully plan on going back tomorrow with the puppers! I FINALLY get the hype about fall, guys! For the longest time, I've been like "what's the big deal with fall?" BUT NOW I GET IT!!! This fall has been spectacular and absolutely stunning. I'm sad that a wind storm came the other day and basically knocked all the gold leaves from the trees. My dad and I spent yesterday afternoon picking up alllllllll the leaves and boy did it leave me exhausted! Haha cleaning leaves is definitely the worst (and possibly only bad thing) about fall!
What is your favorite way to enjoy autumn? 😍
Happy Sunday, beautiful people🌻
So, this is my three day weekend, and I said I was going to read a book📖
The chosen book was A Madness So Discreet.
I read it, fell in love, and planned to go to bed last night. Instead, I read the excerpt from The Female of the Species at the end of the book.
The first page was all it took for me to know that I would be buying the ebook and immediately devouring that book as well.
Let me tell you why McGinnis’s writing will stick with me.
She takes on big issues. These books rip apart rape culture and our society’s stigmatization if mental illness. But you know what else she does? She never lets you forget that her characters are FLAWED. Her main characters may be acting on the primal desires of all of us that have ever been wronged, but their actions don’t make it right. A Madness So Discreet describes the madness of Grace’s tormentor, but also Grace’s own madness. It questions the way we define madness. The Female of the Species is a brutal picture of what rape culture is doing to our teens, but it’s also a reminder that two wrongs don’t make a right, and sometimes the hero is just as sick as the villain.
If you haven’t read these books, I cannot recommend them highly enough. They’re beautifully written, they’re intense, they will make you sick and angry. They’re stories that need to be heard.
I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday. Outlander comes back tonight😍
If you have any book recommendations like the two that I’ve just read, please let me know.
I might take more pics tomorrow. I have some stuff to work on today. But people!!!! I was watching Jane the Virgin this morning and I am so satisfied with myself in an evily pleasant way😈!!!!
The rest of this caption talks about death, so if that's triggering don't read past this line.
I also started They Both Die At The End last night. I don't know how I feel about it. Mostly because I keep thinking about death. In actuality I believe we die and that's it, just darkness. But I want to believe that the world is like Harry August's First Fifteen Lives (it's a fantastic book, you should check it out, the author is Claire North). Basically we die, and we restart the same life, we just don't remember we already lived this life. I love that idea. Because the thought of being reborn in an even crappier body, with a crappy family scares me. Because I really like my life, and my family and would like to keep them forever. Please, and thank you! What do you think about death? Do you think we live on, or that's it, or we become spirits trapped on this planet? I'm really interested in hearing others perspectives on this topic 🤔. Tell me things? You can get religious if you want, I just want to hear others thoughts 😁. Judge free zone!!!! (P.S. this got really off topic, sorry about that).
