At 14140ft, a dog crossed from China border to Indian border and roamed freely. Having seen this I asked one Indian soldier, are there not any rules for the animals who cross borders like that ?
He replied, "Sarhade to sirf hum insaano ke liye hai, inka kya hai aaj yaha to kal vaha" (Borders are for us humans nothing to do with them, they are here today and there tomorrow)
His reply was not something unknown but having seen it live made me realise how limited we've made ourselves with these lines on the map. #border#freeworld#dividedbylines#country#travel#travellife#india#china

Amidst the cacophony of political rhetoric and almost-nauseating chest thumping that follows every cross-border fire exchange between Indian and Pakistani troops, the voices of one particular group is conveniently ignored. It is those living close to the #border — on both sides — who bear the maximum brunt of these skirmishes. However, they are the ones left to clean up the mess while the military-political class sidelines their issues terming it as ‘collateral damage’. But what we don't hear over all the noise, thereafter, is the effect of these violations on the nearby villages, its people, their property and their livestock.
