I'm a typical ectomorph, for a long time I found it a struggle to gain the slightest amount of weight and maintain it. For awhile I was incredibly focused on that one goal, untilI thought is that all I wanted.
To my realisation...it wasn't.
Two main reasons: to efficiently get stronger and healthier. Over my journey I've learnt that physically changing was one thing but to achieve mental stability and mental health was an even greater achievement.
The definition of health comes in a wide spectrum of concepts. When people ask in general "what does normal look like?".....well the same goes for "what does being healthy look like?"
I feel like there's such a misconception of what healthy means in our society today.
Healthy doesn't have to be flashy or picture perfect. In my mind healthy is seeing a new mum start taking care of herself again. Its seeing a girl with no confidence press play on her dvd and JUST TRY! Healthy doesn't have to mean you NEVER have chocolate (that's impossible for me) and it doesn't mean you have to give up the foods that you love. You don't have to eat spinach at every meal and you don't have to workout 2 hours a day.
Its not about taking leaps and bounds. Its about taking small steps every single day toward your goal that matter. No one woke up from never working out before and eating a diet consisting of fast food to suddenly eating PERFECT - it takes years and years of implementing small changes every single day, every week, every month that compound into BIG CHANGES!
Most importantly focus on getting healthy from the INSIDE OUT!! Your mindset is by far the most important. After that everything else will follow. 👊
Body Update: Almost three weeks post comp, about 3-4kg up from stage weight, yep that's not a typo guys... fluid, maybe, actual weight gain maybe, either way I'm not too worried, my headspace is right where I want it. First week down of my new program and I gotta hand it to my coach, @melissa_leman No messing around here, straight to BIZNUSS 💥💪🏽 Abs made a strong comeback today too! Yass 🙌🏼 They have been playing a mean game of hide and seek lately 😂🙈 oh! And I decided today to give myself a short term goal, alongside my off season goals....I booked in a shoot in 5 weeks time to make sure I stay motivated and keep my head in the game. Like a lot of us who compete, having a goal in mind and structure and routine is the best way to stay on track. Without these short term goals I find it too easy to sway in and out. The truth is I don't have an answer to your question. YOU have to find that spot in your heart. No one can do it for you. When you step on stage you have to mentally prepare yourself to be torn apart. That's what your asking for isn't it? To be judged? It's a competition. 🤷🏽♀️
It's not all hair, makeup, jewelry and bikinis. Remember that. Guess what my current weight is today? I DONT KNOW. Guess how many weeks ago I competed? I DONT KNOW. The truth is after almost 3 years of competing I have learned that when it's time to obsess. It's time to obsess. Right now.... I realize I've been obsessing for 9 months. It's time to give it a break. Competing is something that should enhance my life not take it over. And right now I am working on the quality of my body, because I realize to win, there's things I need to improve. 👌🏼
But the obsessing part, and reminiscing and thinking you're never good enough. When it becomes an obsession. It's time to call it quits. I just personally love the way I looked here. Perfection? Nah. It doesn't exsist. I just felt mega good inside. And it showed. 💥 Don't let anything take over your happiness. You are in control.

Always wanted to take a boxing class and so I did! Some family members of mine did some boxing competitions and I was always fascinated by it. What soccer is for some people is (kick)boxing for me! I was always fascinated by it. A few weeks I started participating and I love it! Ofcourse my technique is not on point yet..but hey practice makes perfect 😉! In the future I will also take some kickboxing classes because that's what I like the most!
