I have always been fascinated by war history, and like so many others, WWII is one of my favorites to learn about.
These three books are my favorites, as they really get you in the minds of those who fought there. Band of Brothers needs no introduction, but if for some reason you have not watched the series, put your phone down turn everything off and spend the next 10 hours on the best mini series ever put on TV. This book, on the left, by Stephen E. Ambrose is the book that inspired the series. I read it almost in one sitting, you get a lot of details that are not in the show. Beyond Band of Brothers is sort of a companion to that, it was actually written by Major Dick Winters, and goes more in-depth to his experience throughout the war, also a fantastic book.
The last book, D-Day, is by the same author who wrote Band of Brothers. It Chronicles the experiences of those from all sides, some not even military, on one of the most momentous days in modern world history. He writes in a way that is very similar to a novel, so you don't feel like you're reading history book.
Books like these are important, I know that these days there are things going on that can make us feel helpless, like were swirling down a drain that we're not going to be able to pull ourselves out from. But the moment we forget about our past, the moment we stop learning from the mistakes of those who came before us and the moment we begin repeating those mistakes... That is the moment that we give up any chance of having a better future for ourselves.
#NYCDDD Member's Only Book Club kicked off the year with a juicy novel- Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan which will be turned into a movie later this year. What's your current page-turner? Photo credit: @jeannamichel

Nothing in life Ever Comes easy; but is it worth it? definitely! So go the extra mile!!!👆 Only 18 more months in my training to be a certified fitness trainer and I'm going strong. School and work is amazing. Lot of exams coming up this and especially next year.
I'm going to make 2018 my year; my year of success and knowledge! 2019 will be the year of my "graduation ".
I Have a lot planned; do more than asked of you!
Do more of what you love! I've told myself that I'll start being more positive and seeing the good in everything instead of dwelling on negative thoughts or focusing on everything that isn't right, instead be happy about everything that is right !
I want to do more for my education and my future; do much more for my health than I already am.📚
So excited for everything 💪❤ Just wait and see!
#followme and stay updated, I'll keep you posted on my plans and process!
“I’m not offended by all the dumb blonde jokes because I know I’m not dumb… and I also know that I’m not blonde.” - Dolly Parton. It’s her birthday today. If you don’t like Dolly, or dismiss/make fun of her ... I won’t say anything but I will know in my heart we will never really be friends. She’s one of my only litmus tests. Post of celebration on my site: http://www.sheilaomalley.com/?p=61842 #botd#dollyparton
