Black Butte Anniversary by Deschutes. 28th birthday reserve. BBA imperial porter. 11.6% abv
I've actually accidentally aged this a year. Forgot I had it.
Aroma: big big BIG boozy note right up front. Decent amount of peat showcased from the scotch barrels that this beauty was aged in alongside definite notes of molasses and vanilla rising up from the bourbon barrels it was also aged in.
Taste: the smooth stickiness of the molasses pops up first and a delectable cocoa flavor grows throughout the profile and is ultimately showcased at its brightest on the finish. Following the molasses is a sweetness of orange peel that harmonizes really well with the rich creamy vanilla notes that round out this beer beautifully. The profile remains altogether sweet but gets hearty in the center of your mouth party when the big booziness kicks it. Luckily it is mellowed out by the other flavors keeping from overpowering the profile.
Feel: smooth, creamy, dark, thick, sticky, bold, boozy, etc. So many words to describe the experience of sipping this incredible porter. Truly a one of a kind. This beer is absolutely sublime. Makes me sad it's gone forever. 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺
2015 Coffee Bourbon Barrel Aged Dark Star by Fremont Brewing. Decided to open up something I've been saving after finally locking down a house with a week to spare before we make the move south. I also needed a little something to ease the blow of a ridiculous down payment that's required to live in San Diego County.

Didn't get to take a picture of this last night so I'm borrowing from the person that shared it with me @anxobeer. @oxbowbeer #Arboreal was a delicious and complex #bourbonbarrelaged sour. Crisp sourness to balance the weight of the 8.5% malt bill, some tart cherry and currant notes, with a touch of cocoa along with a smooth caramel and vanilla character. Thanks for sharing. #oxbowbeer#sourale#MaineBeer
