Had a blast last night Edmonton! My 6th year participating in this festival but first time with Irish, Islay, and Japanese Malts! Shoutout to the BeamTeam @the_whiskeykid @andy.neat rockin’ the Beam Bourbon, Irish and Toki tables. The Bowmore 15 YO Darkest was certainly can favorite at my table, and Laphroaig Select a big hit! Auchentoshan delivered on the Three Wood, but the Bartenders Malt was number 1 pour for non-peated. Delicious evening indeed!
Bowmore 18yr. Distillery bottling. 13yr in ex-bourbon + 5yr in Manzanilla sherry casks. Bottled in 2017. 700ml.
Fantastic new release by #Bowmore . I’ve been wary of modern Bowmore and have not had many that impressed me and I’ve also not really chased modern distillate...however there seems to be a resurgence in quality. Many well received reviews have been coming in lately.
Something that has caught my eye has been the re-discovery of fruity notes in Bowmore distillate. Hurray! We probably won’t see that 60s era fruit basket any time soon, but I’m looking forward to where the spirit is heading.
This is a very nice malt and I’ll be picking up another after sharing this one with my whisky group. An excellent combination of honey, toffee, light stone fruits, and berries...with what I always associate to Bowmore as an ashy #peat smoke. This is a great #malt at a nice drinking strength and particularly nice price point (well, in Europe anyway). #single malt #scotch#Islay#whisky
