Break on through, the Bowmore 12 is a #lovable#islay single malt #scotch that bursts with #fruit and a #modest amount of #peat smokiness. Reminds me of the first few nights @twoarmswhiskeysociety got together, sitting at a table, #dim lighting, smoky #haze , laughter, I learned to love the peaty #character .
#Reminiscing about #zagrebwhiskyfair back in #February at a #bigpeat#whiskytasting event with @redhotncool and rest of Zagreb's infamous whiskycircle ☺ #latergram
After @whiskyfun recently tasted this #1976vintage#WilsonMorgan#PortEllen 21yo in 46%abv version and rated it at a very high score of WF:93 (same as caskstrength version), I've been trying to recall the notes and score from that night when Zagreb whisky guru and good friend Tomislav Ruszkowski opened this #peated#islay delight before a sold-out crowd at a tasting. The goal was to try to deconstruct and reconstruct @dlaingwhisky Big Peat by using OBs #Ardbeg10 , #Bowmore12 , #CaolIla12 and this indie #PE21 .. Needless to say, we didn't blend much of that PE, if any.. 😉☺🍷 Now, I haven't tasted nowhere near as many PEs as @whiskyfun, but from the four or five I did taste with Tom's courtesy, this one didn't seem that typical to me for a PE. More tropical and fruity on citrus, mangos and papayas with smoke/peat and some plastic in the back, not all that much rubber, tyres, coal or train station.. With time and a drop of water, some gunpowder and sulphurous struck match (in ex-bourbon?) appear shortly, which then disappear. Gave it a 88 or 89 score with others raging from barely 86 up to 95ish.. Guess I'll just have to taste more PEs to learn what's really typical. 🍷😉
