One of the most important things when teaching someone to 🥊 is wrapping the hands!
Hands should ALWAYS be wrapped for a boxing session, due to the repeated impact with every punch on the bones, tissues, tendons, joints, ligaments etc. of the hands, wrists and forearms. It’s crucial to protect and align them by wrapping well before every training session. Was lucky enough to get my hands wrapped by the brilliant @steven_bnb !
Ready to rock on roll!
Threw on my gloves after class yesterday to just let loose on the bag 👊🏼 Bag work isn't my favorite but I'm trying to find a love for it since I never get to do mitts out here. Maybe a hanging bag would help get the feet and head moving more but for now, working with what I've got 👊🏼 #HoningMyCraft#PracticeEveryDamnDay
Ready at all times to hit the mitts! 🚴👊🏼☀️
Can I please go back to riding my bike 🚲around in the sunshine ☀️with boxing gloves in the basket? 👊🏼
Had a great time in LA this week. Started out with my level 2 #BoxnBurn certification which was so much fun and great info. Was able to see friends all week and fit in some boxing classes and one-on-one sessions with @glennholmesla and @kevan_watson. I'm already trying to figure out when I can come back for some more training at their gym. It is such a fun & friendly atmosphere. Looking forward to sharing what I learned with some training clients starting in 2018!
So...maybe I’m a smidge awkward when describing myself...but it’s just part of my charm.
Seriously so stoked for 2018! And I can’t thank the team at #boxnburn enough for all their training and mentorship and friendship. Seriously...if @tony_jeffries and @kevan_watson didn’t create @boxnburn I probably never would have started boxing and have met so many new lifelong friends, let alone listen to the @boxnlife podcast, let alone WIN a one on one session with @glennholmesla (aka Mr. 6 figures), and decide to take both level 1 and 2 of the @boxnburnacademy And because of that I’ve connected with @kay_schuu Which I KNOW is going to be an awesome partnership. Make sure to follow @bodybest.fit
We’re coming for you 2018. So get that guard up. 🥊👊🏼 #Repost @bodybest.fit (@get_repost)

10 TIPS for teaching boxing for fitness
The boxing fitness industry can be great for boxers who are retiring.
Ten years ago, a boxer who was hanging up the gloves didn't have much to fall back onto, but now with boxing for fitness being one of the biggest workout trends in the world, if they are smart they can earn a good living by teaching boxing to others as they have more boxing experience than 99% of personal trainers.
I have been doing it successfully for seven years now and even though i was a very successful boxer, I would say I'm even more successful at this. However, it’s something I have had to work on; it’s not as straightforward as you may think.
Here are some tips for boxers teaching boxing fitness.
1. Realize you're teaching boxing for fitness reasons and not for a fight - good form is important but not crucial. If you work a full session on perfecting the jab, it's going to be pretty boring, and if your client gets bored, the workout becomes a chore, and if it becomes a chore, they won’t last long.
2. Have fun and be positive with clients; don’t be too serious like your coach may have been with you. When teaching beginners how to box, it WILL feel awkward, so tell them they are about to feel awkward.
When I say 'have fun', this doesn’t mean tell them your little sister can punch harder than them, but do give them new combos and have them rolling punches - be creative with your workout and let your personality show.
3. Promote yourself as a 'former competitive boxer' and if you have won anything in your sports career, use that, ie 'former national champion boxer'. This is what sets you apart from other trainers.
4. Do plenty of pad work. Clients love - and i mean love - hitting the pads, so learn how to hold them correctly. You should know what it feels like - too much resistance could hurt them, but too little and they can jar their elbow.

Taking a moment this morning to reflect on the last few days ✨ I had an incredible time in California again and as always I've returned feeling energized and fired up to practice all that I learned. I cannot say enough about @boxnburn, the @boxnburnacademy and everyone I've had the pleasure of meeting and learning from there 🙌🏼 They are some of the best in the business and yet they are the most genuine, humble people who truly thrive on helping others. Their warmth is reflected in their staff, trainers and in the students who take the academy and it is so refreshing in an industry that can often be so competitive. Feeling very grateful for the opportunity to travel and be able to train with people who are so willing to help me grow as a coach. Thanks so much to all of you. Already thinking about when I can come back! 💗✈️ .
Until then, can't wait to see my #ACKFightClub crew back on the mat to put all these new skills to work! 👊🏼 Who's excited!? @teresa_acoutinho @petaldrop @sunsetsbyarmani @megtaft @love_li_sel @ackdebba @brittany.pedretti @stephsproule @foodandgoodco @a.cardona10
How to feel challenged and pushed way beyond your limits - train with @joshpolitbnb! 🙌🏼Amazing session on the mitts today @boxnburnbrentwood! 👊🏼 I was sore and tired from a weekend of tough training but man was this fun! There's a reason I fly across the country to train out here. These guys are awesome! Thank you for making me work hard today @joshpolitbnb! I learned so much and had a blast!
Huge thank you goes out to @tony_jeffries @glennholmesla @kevan_watson and all the brilliant/kind people I met at yesterday’s @boxnburnacademy Level 2 seminar.
As one person mentioned, these guys are so welcoming/humble/kind and they give!! Their methods work and they make learning to box so much FUN!!
I want to personally thank Keith, such a kind/uplifting soul, that I had the privilege to train with. I started out a little off and in my own head. I was frustrated and not having fun; defeating the purpose of the seminar. He slowed everything down for me, broke things up and builded up so I could comprehend it all. He framed everything so well, weight pressure/to relax-loosen up and to focus on getting the movement rather than rushing. Always uplifting me and telling me how he would cue his clients.
Also, huge shout out to @chris.viggiano for being my training partner and hype person! Much love my friend!
I learned so much and will unpack once I get back home. Will definitely look into getting mitts and gloves, so I can start to train! Again, even if you know nothing about boxing there is no need to be scared! If you want to feel good, get an amazing workout and learn life lessons...look no further! Step out of your comfort zone and learn/grow!! I have so much through this experience...just the beginning.
All my L❤️VE , respect & thanks to all of those who made THIS possible : 📸 @garyllopez 💎 edit : @milo_bnb 💎 @boxnburnacademy & @boxingyoga for the #skills 💎 incredibly grateful for this team! Join the winning team with me as your coach! LETS GO!
