Out of curiosity (and because I think it’s good to check in with a food tracker every now and then) I decided to log my meal using the USDA’s SuperTracker. According to their standards, this meal provides about a third of my daily calories (not yet accounting for my exercise), half my day’s protein, 70% of my daily fruit, and half of my whole grains. With this meal I get almost all of my necessary dietary fiber, a healthy amount of sugar, salt, and fat; adequate vitamin B6, B12, and folate. From looking at my nutrient report that is auto-generated on the SuperTracker site, I can see what I need for the rest of the day, so this can be really handy as I’m packing lunch and planning dinner today/tonight. This tool could be crucial for anyone who is on a special diet that might need to get certain nutrients in more creative ways (ie. vegetarian like me, or vegan, gluten free, etc.)

I actually thought I'd have to skip the *oatmeal post* today, because I ran out of oats, but as luck would have it my Amazon order (oats included) came in early this morning! That order included some dried goji berries and some cacao powder, both of which I included in my oatmeal, today. The cacao powder, I added to the water (only a scanty teaspoon or so) and the goji berries after the oatmeal was done. It probably could of used a bit more cacao, but I didn't want to overpower it! Made the kitchen smell good, though! I had never tried goji berries before, they plumped up nicely and I added some on top as well. A little tart, but not *pucker* tart! Then I topped with red grapes and walnuts! I liked it and would make it again. A little different today, oatmeal cooked in almond milk instead of water. Towards the end of cooking, add 1/8tsp.turmeric and 1/4tsp.cinnamon and some chopped up apricots. Then, top with fresh fruit (I used golden kiwi) and nuts (I used pecans). And, of course, (everybody now!), the maple syrup drizzle! I sprinkled a bit of natural cane sugar (so it would make the photo pretty).
