The McLaren Senna is EXTREME. When I asked "what’s it like?" the response I got from someone high up at McLaren was “Brutal.” Now this is where text cannot do a spoken word justice. The inflection in his voice was that of sheer amazement, fear, excitement, and shock, and it was clearly honest and not the least bit manufactured for affect. The McLaren Senna features some trick aerodynamics that will allow it to control and contort the flow of air in a way that makes the wind go wherever it wishes to send it. The McLaren Senna will also be lighter than the Pagani Huayra BC which, owning one and having clocked some miles, is so light that I feel a new kind of sensation from it that was previously foreign to me in a street legal car. The new generation of hyper cars are doing things differently than the previous generation. These cars are not trying to be everything to everyone. These are purpose built cars that wouldn’t make sense as super cars because they are too extreme and they do not mind sacrificing creature comforts in order to make something that is undeniably special in the ways they intend for it to be. For that reason, I am much more excited about the new breed than I was the hybrid hyper cars of the last generation, even though they would likely be the better daily drivers. I think hyper cars should be very different than anything else out there. McLaren, MercedesAMG, and Aston Martin are definitely on a path to deliver their own unique experiences. The designed-to-go-fast looks of the McLaren Senna have already been debated more in the past few days than the span of a Presidential election. I am all for bold designs over boring designs. I applaud McLaren for throwing the typical reservations that you would get from a board or committee out the window and doing what they feel will set a new benchmark. What are your thoughts on the McLaren Senna? #FortuneFavorsTheBold
