Can you sit in the fire?
For many of us we've had a break, some down time to reassess our lives and the year that lies ahead. But life has a way of trying to throw us off, trying to test our resolve and see if we really have what it takes to get to the place that we want. Because that's what it's about, we set it up and see if we have what it takes. That's the test because that's how life works. Can we sit in the fire and breath, when it's all falling apart?
There's something about that person across the room that can keep it together when everyone else is falling apart, their presence calm says that I've been here before.
It's guaranteed that the fire will come, it's on its way, it always is. So how do we deal with it when it all hits the fan? How do we quickly get back to the self that allows us to do what we're really here to do?
1. Become aware when the little you is running the show and that you need to find access to a bigger part of yourself.
2. Find people and tools that can get you quickly back. The little you can take over but it's the big you that you need back, the faster the better.
3. Find what connects you to that bigger part, that feeling that I've got this. It may be yoga or tai chi, meditation or breathe work, facilitation or dream work. It may just be acupuncture and the state it produces, the state that gives you space from your worrying self so you can get clarity on who you really need to be.
4. Consistently make it a practice to reconnect to this larger part of you.
One of the most important benefits I see from acupuncture is this space from our ordinary worrying self. We take a holiday because we all need a break from our days. Throughout the year ensure that you periodically access this holiday state. If you need support we can help you to access this state through acupuncture or facilitation and get a handle on what is really going on.
And make this the year that you sat in the fire, and breathed.
did you know the sun salutation, or suryanamaskara, as we know it comes from a 12 hour practice?! it was/ is practiced as a form of prayer to the sun god, surya.
