I was nearly crying as I developed roll after roll of film from my two-month trip to Eastern Europe. Halfway through the trip I discovered a small hole in the curtain -- uncertain of how long it was there or how it was caused. Each scan I prayed the next would be usable. Each scan I was disappointed. Nearly ten rolls later I had to face the fact that nearly all my photos were unsalvageable.
But as artists we have the unique hope of turning ruin, decay, loss, suffering, into beauty; to create something out of what often seems as nothing.
For those of you still here, this shot is of a random man on the street whom I approached to photograph and was quite openly shut down (in Romanian / Russian). Cool enough, it led to a conversation about Jesus, an opening of perspective, and a photo (if you can still call it that). If you made it this far, you're awesome and keep discovering, creating, and sharing! Tag me in one of your latest projects / photos / creative pieces love to check it out.
