What (brook-side) dreams are made of. If you want to see more, I’ve got a tour of the @idyllbrookgazebo cabin up on stories now and I went around two other really special spots, too. Think: a stunner of an all white aframe that’s got a great library plus a total That 70s Show number. There are definitely a few to scroll through so be sure to stick around for all the ins and outs. #cabinlove pics by @lady_bro (aka @cabinlove). •

Weaving a wall for the perimeter of the Pallet Wood Canin Basecamp. New Pallet Wood cabin episode this week, then mixing it up a bit with shooting and Bushcraft 🏕
I've been blasting Christmas music since mid November but I'm always game for new suggestions - what are your favourite Christmas songs/covers!? Three of my favourites are: Joy to The World (Sufjan Stevens), Sleigh Ride (Relient K), and Auld Lang Syne (Andrew Bird)
Instagrams favourite winter cabin - but what you don't see is me falling face first into the snow immediately after taking this photo. 🤷🏼♂️
Remind yourself that your everyday, might be someone else’s “someday”.
It’s easy to forget where you stand when chasing the intangible, but the fact is we’re all pretty damn lucky in some sorts. Even if you’re on your way up & out.. I hope you’re able to take a moment and smell your roses. In my case, it’s usually a campfire.
This vacation is the first of its kind this year and I can't think of a better way to wrap up 2017 than with my little family in the middle of a forest 🌲. Sun rays shining through the windows, fireplace blazing, ambient music, and total relaxation 🤤
Somewhere at the root of all my cabin fantasies and wilderness longing is a tree house. We had one, more like a fort, when I was little. In my mind it was huge; in reality it was tiny. I have always wanted to build a "real" tree house. I love this one. It would be so amazing to have a little place up high with a couch and a bed, a table and a bookshelf. Just to be among the rustle and whisper of the leaves, and the profound wisdom of the trees.

It’s not the prettiest of Yuletide scenes, the halls aren’t yet decked with holly nor boughs of cedar and fir (heck, it’s not even in focus) but it’s a cozy scene and it’s real.
We finally put the tree up last night. Yes, the same tree that we plodded across the ranch in fresh deep snow over a week ago to harvest, and has been leaning against the front of the cabin “curing” ever since.
We have always trimmed our Christmas tree together, as a family. I relish the slow unveiling of each ornament from the layers of protective tissue and the exclamations over whose it is, and the stories retold about the history behind each fragile little bobble.
These days my children are growing older, and my son has been flexing wings that have already taken flight and carried him far from our mountain home, to mountains half a world away.
So I waited until all my chicks were home (a rare and treasured occurrence, let me assure you) to drag the tree indoors and open the old green chest that smells forevergreen and holds our Christmas cheer.
Together we trimmed the tree, laughed and spun some holiday memories that will sustain me when my chicks are flown, and are no longer home with me, here...
This is about as festive as we can get in our cabin. ❄🎄🎁 We will replant that Christmas tree in our yard after the holidays, then we can always look back on our first Christmas as a married couple. 🎄🎄👰🤵❤💚❤💚
