Adjusting Nutrition from Endurance to Strength Training.
I was recently contacted by a client who had increased calories to take into account the switch from Endurance to Strength training. Although his lifts were improving he was adding body fat.
He wanted to know why this was happening, which is a great question.
The reduction in endurance work would of created a change in energy balance, the inclusion of Strength work would have balanced this out, and therefore an increase in Calories was probable not required.
This all comes down to tracking nutrition. When switching up training protocols it is worth reviewing your current nutrition to review how much it will require changing.
You can then review whether the Macro Split is still suitable for the goals you are trying to achieve.
I will be doing this myself towards the end of Dec as my training switches from Strength to Endurance, I will be posting how I manage this switch.
