DON’T COUNT CALORIES
A few posts back I mentioned why I tend to steer prospective clients away from counting calories to lose weight. The truth is, the majority of people can can lose by just tweaking a few things here and there. These few things, although they may not think it, can contribute a great deal to their overall caloric intake for the day. Just think of that Large double double you get at @TimeHortons. You just pissed away 300 calories. How about the olive oil you poured on your salad, or used to cook your egg? Did you know 1 tbsp has about 120 Calories? Let’s not forget about the heaps of mayonnaise you added to your sandwich you take to work. Maybe 2 tbsp? That’s another 200 calories. Hidden, sneaky calories. Calories that most of the time are empty and prove no nutritional value. Calories that will not satiate you and leave you hungry. Take a hard look at your diet throughout the day…does it resemble this? If you answered yes, and you are someone who is struggling to lose weight, then moderating or completely removing these from your diet could be the answer to your weight loss goals. .

One of the many ingredients in my superfood smoothie bowl is Ashwaganda.
Just some of the things that this powerful plant does is:
It strengthens tissues, muscles and bones. It restores vitality, strength and energy. It's also an anti-inflammatory, an antioxidant, helps prevent memory loss, and is an antiseptic.
It also helps with depression, constipation, protects the liver and helps combat diabetes.
But the past part about this tiny superfood for me is that it promotes feelings of well-being, reduces effects of stress and anxiety, helps me fall asleep and promotes restorative sleep.
That's just some of things that this ONE ingredient does. I've been looking into what else my shake has is in and I can't wait to share more with you.
It's not a protein shake, it's a superfood that just happens to have protein in it. And it tastes great too!!

••• Yesterday I worked out because I was unhappy with the way I looked. Today I worked out because I know my body is powerful & strong. Yesterday I felt the need to restrict food & calorie count out of the fear of gaining weight. Today I know that food shouldn’t be looked at as calories, but as fuel & as nutrients for the body. Today I know that I will have a less days like yesterday because I know my body doesn’t deserve to be treated like that. Not everyday will be perfect, and that’s okay because I accept I am a work in progress. ••• There is SO much more to food, nutrition and wellness than the mindset of calories in and calories out. Having a healthy body starts with a healthy mindset. Treat yourself with compassion. Nourish your body, eat intuitively. ••• I encourage everyone to listen to @root_for_food & @the_diehard_foodie podcast about why calories don’t matter. Thank you guys for putting information like this out there, inspiring us to learn more & sharing your stories and knowledge for all of us who need to hear it!

Life has been so good lately & I feel I owe that all thanks to you guys! Seriously you make a girl feel so good!
