Vicki Grima | Mentor
I first met Vicki by becoming a member of The Australian Ceramics Association @australianceramics. I've always believed that purchasing membership to visual arts organisations is crucial for networking, sharing technical knowledge and skills and of course friendships. @vickigrima always struck me as an incredibly dedicated advocate of those practising in the visual arts - naturally ceramics. She's focused, incredibly supportive and loves being a ceramicist. We need people like Vicki to ensure our sector continues to survive and embrace exciting opportunities. #galleryofsmallthings#artists#canberraart#3CUBED
YOU CANT FEAR SUCCESS, and I think a lot of people do. I think a LOT of people do. I think a lot of people fear the really high heights, but I am NOT one of those people. -Conor McGregor

Sometimes, an artist comes along who's message roars so loud, you can't hep but stop and listen. Pete Filmer, of Canberra Australia is that artist.
Owning the sheer magnitide of his accomplishments, Pete needs a bulleted list. There's no other way around it. I'll have to do this feature slightly different. • ● Pete draws very large animals on a very large scale.
● His art tells stories and has a strong message.
● He is a sculptor and creates wonderful wood carvings of animals.
● He is a former Game Warden in Africa
● He is the winner of the Australian Tactile Art Prize for his sculpture “Talk to Me”.
● He has been featured in numerous magazine articles.
● His work is regularly commissioned by Embassies, Government departments and overseas delegations.
● He is an author, having published three books and co-illustrated a children’s book.
● His art works are held in collections and galleries throughout the world.
Not only does Pete title all of his art, he gives incredibly descriptive details about each piece; including size, materials used and information about the animal itself. In between all of his own endevors, he sometimes takes a break from his personal art to work with his son Geoff (@graffikpaint). Together, they paint beautiful murals. The best part of all of this? He writes on his page as if he has known the person reading it forever. He has a welcoming warmth about him that makes one want to linger on his art forever. •
He knows animals so well that his art seems to come to life.
I am truley awe inspired by the man, the artist and the love he has for animals through the art he creates. He shares his message of wildlife preservation through his amazing talents. Pete Filmer shows his true heart, and is leaving a legacy,... not only for his children and grandchildren, but for us as well.
Thank you, Pete, for making our world a happier place!
