The road to recovery is definitely much longer than this very long and wobbly bridge however us 'spoonies' rarely complain and keep going.

This family vacation hasn't been perfect, I thought I'd be further along in my road to recovery and the jet lag has definitely set me back. However having my family here to help me plan meals and ask about sugar / yeast in restaurants as well as drag me out of bed on the 'bad' days has really shown me how lucky I am.

Today is day 21 of this 6 month cleanse to gain control of my body and health. I would say I am staying about 98% true to this cleanse (my cheat is usually a smidge of dairy free chocolate 😳) I did have to buy new dress pants this week and they are 4 inches smaller around. I measured using my fingers lol. 
2017 continues to be a year of change (thank the lord it is towards the end as changing jobs caused a meltdown, but it worked the way it was supposed to) 
Happy first day of fall my friends ❤️Here's to hoping I don't end up head first in the huge new pumpkin pie display at work. My bloody favourite

And I'm doing exactly the same: taking my antifungal until it's done and then, rotate the probiotic. And the most important thing: eating real, non processed food! 🍳🍗🍠🍄🍅🌱

She spoke often of the inner child, the child within that all of us must occasionally tend to and connect with. We spend most of our time yelling at this inner child, then wondering why our lives aren't working out the way we like. Perhaps you were treated this way as a child, instead of lovingly embraced just the way you are.

We base our life scripts on our childhood messages. We can blame our parents and be victims, but that wouldn't help us fix our issues. Blaming is the surest way to give your power away. Taking control of your future requires changing your current thinking. Understand that our parents did the best they could with the knowledge they had.

Once upon a time your parents were children, they have once felt helpless and small. They are only able to teach what they learned. Many believe before we were born, we chose our parents, and we have specific lessons to learn in this life. Our visits to this planet are like going to school. The parents you picked this time around are experts in the field of study you chose to learn.

Working with the inner child involves freeing and forgiving your parents for not being perfect, part of this meditation involves imaginging as very small children, crying and alone, and YOU must comfort them to make them stop crying.
Often, our instinct is to tell children the best version of the truth possible. Even the most terrible news is sugar coated into a slightly tolerable truth. This is how we must reconnect with our inner child, through our communication with ourselves. Taking the time out of your day to tell yourself positive affirmations regarding yourself, as you believe a mother would or your mother should have, it allows your brain and heart to feel something perhaps as never before.
Practice saying positive truths to yourself as if you were a child, or perhaps to your parents inner child. "You are worth my love no matter what"

Does anyone else ever have three drinks going at once? In an effort to stay hydrated (and to heal) I always have my water, (with a bit of Celtic grey sea salt added, per my nutritionists orders) but when I decide to make tea lately, I tend to make both chicory and turmeric tea; partly to make better use of the water I took the time to boil and also, I think, because I figure I might as well reap the benefits of both kinds. I usually will leave these drinks all together on a corner of the counter and I know my hubby thinks it's crazy when he sees that I have multiple drinks that I'm claiming, and that no one else should touch. He's not a neat-freak by any means, but he has certain things that he feels strongly about, and people leaving cups around seems to be one of them. I prefer everyone in the house to reuse their cups as much as is reasonable, especially because we drink only water 99% of the time. Most people don't do well on seeds (grains, seeds, nuts, legumes) and dairy, however, there is biochemical individuality so it is different for everyone. As much as you can, stay away from junk food, processed food, sugar, anything with yeast in it (breads), and fermented foods. If a food was bad for the Candida, you will usually experience bloating in your intestines after eating it.

Because I'm cutting out all starch ( potato, rice, bread, etc ), it was recommended to me that I add electrolytes to my diet for added energy. You can also add fresh lemon slices to your water if you prefer. My body responds to coconut water extremely well, as I drink up a whole can within minutes. I was craving hot chocolate on this rainy Oregon day, so here's what I made: 
Take 1/2 cup of water and add 3 tablespoons of collagen and put that in a stand mixer. Put another 1/2 cup of water and heat it up (I used the stove, but microwave is also an option). While that's going, add a heaping tablespoon of cocoa powder, a pinch of salt, a dash of vanilla extract, and a few squirts of Stevia to the mixer and blend it up. Once blended, add the hot water and give it a couple swirls. And you're done! Bon apetit! 🍴🍵 This makes one cup of hot chocolate without milk of any kind 🐄🐐 I suppose you could use milk instead of water, but be careful not to burn it! 😉

Lemon Scented Scones 🍋🍋🍋
Grain Free|Paleo|Gluten Free| Anti-Candida Option

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup almond flour (not almond meal)
3/4 cup tapioca flour
1/4 cup coconut flour
1/4 cup sugar OR xylitol for candida option,more for dusting
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
2 Tablespoons lemon zest
6 Tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and small cubes
1 egg
1/4 cup lemon juice
2 Tablespoons unsweetened coconut milk

DIRECTIONS:
Preheat your oven to 350 d. F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. ✨
In a food processor add almond, tapioca & coconut flour, sugar or xylitol, baking soda, salt and lemon zest.  Pulse a couple times to combine.

Add butter and process for about 15 seconds.  At this point the flour should have the consistency of wet sand. ✨

I'm pretty sure my food cravings due to the candida die off are completely erratic right now last night all I wanted was Oklahoma Braums soft serve ice cream chocolate/vanilla twist in a waffle cone... today when I looked in my fridge I got pumped to make baked cauliflower and okra based in coconut oil... 😂😂😂 well at least I'm sticking to the Candida fighting diet... Not beautiful , but my post workout #LowCarb #KetoDiet lunch was a hit! I decided to try the hemp seeds, again, but a savory version this time. WOW! This was really good, and the texture was like a mix of couscous and rice. So easy, y'all! Hemp seed will be on my grocery list from now on. Serves 1:
•
1/4-1/3 cup of hemp hearts
3 mushrooms, sliced
2 pats of butter, unsalted
1/8 cup chicken broth/stock/water
Pinch of garlic powder
Pinch of onion powder
Pinch of S&P
•
Sauté mushroom in 1 pat of butter. When browned, add the rest of the butter and hemp seeds. Add seasoning, toast for 30 seconds, and add broth. Mix well and turn the heat down to mid-low. Let the broth and butter absorb, about 2 mins, and serve. Would be great with a little feta cheese, but hold the salt!

Meal plans? You're supposed to follow them right?... to make life easier? I'm just rubbish... it's lamb on my @iquitsugar meal plan this evening and I'm just not a fan. I know, normally I'd sub it for chicken but I just fancied fish. Quick and easy cod with a little best butter, homemade wedges from the freezer and left over brocollini and homemade curry sauce. I'll leave the Gyros for another day! It's quite conflicting all the quitting sugar, candida diet and the genetics. I'm slowly working it out but jeez my head is about to explode with an overload of information. 😜One small step at a time and planning would be useful right about now but its not coming so easily at the moment. I can spend hours looking at food recipes and pinning away like crazy and then I never get around to making any of it! Anyone else have this infliction? No? Just me? Well I hope you've all had a way more productive week than me. My plans consist of improving my planning abilities! I have been to yoga twice this week and had two lovely mornings with two lovely ladies. My boy has starting walking home from school on his own 😩 and I'm enjoying time to think, be mindful and rest. I'm lucky I can choose to work from home (although it took a lot of changing and adapting things at work to be able to do so!) Anyway now tea is nicely digesting in my tummy I'm off to watch a movie with the small man in my life. Happy middle of week folks. ♡
