I really like working around railroad tracks from boats, floating above all the hazards and debris. - But - I don’t know anything about rivers I know about big water. So. I put in and loaded up and paddled about a mile down the Hudson to this spot. Took my shot and then spent a good while trying to figure out how I’d get home.... I just turned around and brute forced it up stream saving a long hike back to the car.
From self-aware to self-compassionate: what’s the difference? I’ve learned that self-compassion is a skill that arises in times of distress, failure, or negative life events. It’s comprised of three components: self-kindness versus self-criticism, the understanding that one is part of a greater, common human experience versus believes of isolation, and the tendency to engage in nonreactive self awareness versus to over-identify with or dissociate from thoughts and feelings. These components are distinct yet require each other to activate. SC may be what clinical populations require to reduce symptomatology, as it is more than just a non-judgemental awareness of oneself and ones experiences. It is an opportunity to self regulate, accept your experiences, feel connected to others, and offer yourself kindness and understanding. SC is about self-love, and looking after yourself-m. You can think of it as your attachment with yourself. It’s a process I highly recommend everyone tries and learns more about. Life isn’t about what you achieve or create or offer to the world unless you have others to share it with, yourself to be content with. Life is about being and enjoying and sharing, in my opinion.
