I think “it” had to happen before I was inspired to paint “it.” “It” happened to kill my open studio yesterday and I’m kind of mad at “it.” But I’ll admit that “it” is pretty and I had a bunch of cookies left to power me though the day. This is a 30x40 work in progress. “It” will need another pass for sure. ❄️❄️❄️
One of our followers requested that we post a “behind the scenes” 📸 project from start to finish, so here we go!
Day 👆🏻we took out all the old windows, fixed the rot on the framing, sized the opening correctly, installed the 8 new windows and insulated with a special door & window spray foam ⚒
First snowy owl I've seen in nearly 4 years when there was that huge irruption. Unfortunately all the ones I got with him facing the camera turned out blurry due to being later in the day and having to use a longer shutter speed😩. Looking forward to more opportunities to photograph this majestic bird!
There’s always enough time for a first look with ice cream! 🍦

Turning that sun into a moon. If you're following along from a few posts back I let this piece dry, then applied glazes of cad orange yellow and some kind of magenta. I'm now painting semi opaquely into that with a more muted palette and trying to let some of that intense color underneath come through. 🤞🏻
