It's okay to feel sad some days. It's okay to feel scared. It's also okay, whoever you are, to communicate it.
Find a place of timelessness, find a place to wear your skin like it's finally your own. Find a place to become the sky, everyone else, the burning sun.
It's been forever since I last saw Bruges! Since it's autumn, I'm only visiting woods and villages 🍂 On another note, I finished a new blog post last week about my favorite film noir movies 🎥 #capturingourdays
Ieu sui Arnaut qu'amas l'aura
E chatz le lebre ab lo bou
E nadi contra suberna
(I am Arnaut who gathers up the wind,
And chases the hare with the ox,
And swims against the tide) - Lines by Arnaut Daniel, Occitan troubadour of the 12th century. He was of noble birth, and once described as "a student, ruined by dice and shut-the-box". But also as "the best smith" and the "grand master of love". I find these little lines ridiculously enchanting in their simplicity- they've been stuck in my head all day!
I wish for your life, for all our lives, to be, always, no matter what else comes, surrounded by love. To be enveloped in inspiration and encircled by nourishing, beautiful people. For us to be able to turn to whomever is by our side and say, like Walt Whitman,
Camerado, I give you my hand!
I give you my love more precious than money,
I give you myself before preaching or law;
Will you give me yourself? will you come travel with me?
Shall we stick by each other as long as we live?
It's dark outside, the candles are lit, Billie Holiday is playing and I'm daydreaming about the 1930s while editing photos - saying that I adore this season feels like an understatement ❤🍁 #capturingourdays
"You tell me to quiet down cause my opinions make me less beautiful but i was not made with a fire in my belly so i could be put out' - Rupi Kaur |
On the occasion of Mental Health Day and as someone who has long struggled with various mental health issues (though I still feel like an imposter when speaking about it, as if my experience wasn't real enough for me to talk about it, as if people would think me a fraud for sharing), I say to you- talk about it. To trusted friends, loved ones,a therapist if you can get one. Really talk about it. You are enough, right where you are today. You don't need to have everything already solved and mapped out. Don't let that anxiety get stacked on top of everything else. Try to be kind to yourself, you are worth it. You, me, you. We are worth it.|
Pro tip, if you swipe right and left continuously, it looks like I'm dancing. Which I probably am.
It is all done by people. The caress, the hurt, the hatred. In the empty night of the world we do things to each other, we do things to ourselves, we turn away. But when we turn away from our own true voices, from the voice of our shared pain, joy and humanity, we diminish ourselves, we are left mute and in the dark of a world that isn't ours. Carl Sagan said, 'It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known.'
