Still missing Costa Rica (I doubt that's going to change anytime soon!) the below-zero weather this morning has me craving something good and hearty, like these spinach-ricotta ravioli that we got at the most amazing Argentinian restaurant in San Jose!  It's also the first restaurant that has ever served me a gin and tonic in 375mL glass!  Needless to say one of those was plenty... :)

I had an amazing orange and dark chocolate mousse after finishing these ravioli's and wish I would have taken a pic of it so I could recreate it back home...see sentence above, specifically near-wine-bottle-sized glass of Tanqueray as to why I did not...

Over this time, I decided to make a change, while I continued to hit my macros, I put more of an emphasis on quality foods.  Don't get it twisted, I still had a donut here and there, but far more fruits and veggies.  I also tried to heal my gut with a daily probiotic, digestive enzymes, and charcoal.  The results were not only visible but I feel great, my performance has been through the roof, and I'm recovering better than ever!
The bigger picture is learning to live 80/20.
80% of the foods you eat should be healthy and good quality, foods no one is going to argue if they are good or bad for you.
20% of your foods should come from foods you love and enjoy, pizza, donuts, pick your poison!

😍😍😍 this jam was actually amazing. It has a sort of creamy taste like really indulgent and the perfect balance of sweetness. It goes melty as well. Which is akways a plus. So coconutty. So good.

Revelé is a low cal whipped gelato. Not a protein ice cream, not loaded AF with fiber or artificial sweeteners. Now I love my halo and enlightened but honestly sometimes I’d much rather just have low cal ice cream rather than all the protein and fiber I don’t need.

Revelé just uses normal gelato ingredients but it’s whipped so volume wise it’s low cal, the whole pint is 360cals🙌🏼 the only problem was that even with overnight shipping it melted so this wasn’t “whipped” but rather really dense.

So I can’t speak fully on it, it was really dense because of this but I loved it! For the calories and no artificial sweetener? The flavor was on point. Super creamy and definitely enjoyed the cake batter flavor! Not much for mix ins but there’s a few cake pieces. The base actually uses real cake batter which I love!🎂🙏🏼

I just roasted some broccoli, mushrooms, kabocha squash, and sweet potatoes, cooked some kale in garlic powder, nutritional yeast, turmeric, pepper, and lemon juice, cut and avocado and boom! You got yourself a bomb veggie packed lunch! The recipe for the cashew cheez is below! Trust me, you want to make it! 
Cheez-

3 cups soaked cashews 
3 cloves roasted garlic
1 lemon juiced
Salt and pepper to taste 
1 tsp garlic powder 
1 tbsp nutritional yeast(optional) 
1/4-1/2 cup of the water you soaked your cashews in or plant milk

Blend on high speed until super creamy! Store in the fridge for up to about three weeks(or until it goes off)

Long story short I’ve been wanting a duck donut for dayssss and honestly I probably would have drove over and got two of them if it weren’t for the snow {Mother Nature has my back apparently haha}. So I present these babies peanut butter with peanut and pecan topping, chocolate and coconut and cake batter. Anyone who knows me knows I’m a complete carb addict! I have tried many different methods of eating carbs in order to achieve certain results, particularly with prep for a competition. Low carb, carb cycling (variation of high and low carb days) and carb timing....to name a few. Put simply I much prefer carbs over any other macronutrient any day 🤣..... but we all know if I only ate carbs I wouldn’t be in a good place. 
Here are my top three times to eat high carb meals:.

1. Morning

Overnight, while you sleep, your body fasts and goes through carbohydrates that it stores away, also known as glycogen. When you eat carbs first thing in the morning, your body uses these carbs to replenish what you may have lost overnight. It also boosts my energy for the day! 🤩.

2. Pre-workout

Because carbs are so critical to providing energy, consuming carbs before your workout is a must! Leave about an hour before your workout.

3. Post-workout

The reason why you need carbs after your workout is similar to the reason you’re taking them in first thing in the A.M.

Those glycogen stores are used up when you train hard, and in order for you to replenish and allow your body to shuttle nutrients, you need carbs in your post-workout meal. 
Additionally, carbs help shuttle insulin to the muscle cells, and this accelerates the delivery of nutrients such as protein to the broken down muscle tissue. Neglect your post-workout carbs, and your muscles simply won’t recover like they should.

Bonus Tip – Add Protein!! I can’t stress how important this is.

Adding protein to your carbs slows down the digestion process, and ensures that you’re getting more protein delivered to your muscle cells. 
There’s no denying the fact that a low-carb diet can be very effective to lose body fat and lose stubborn weight. But going too far will lead to losses in muscle mass and drops in performance, hence why carb timing is so critical.

Big thanks to @frommybowl for this amazing mushroom stroganoff. It's so rich and creamy. I made a few changes: used red onion instead of white, added wine, added rosemary and thyme and used tahini instead of cashew butter. I must say this has become one of my vegan favorites so far. / / / Muchísimas gracias a @frommybowl por crear esta magnífica receta de stroganoff de hongos. Es muy sabrosa y cremosa. Challah brings me joy, but my body hates it. When I was really really into wellness, I cut out pretty much everything from my diet. It was...well...’healthy’ but it made me sad. Bread is my happy food, and is one of the remaining foods that I know I still have issues with. But for me, it’s the yeast not the gluten. It bloats my stomach to bursting point and makes me itch in places that I don’t really need to share on social media. But let’s just say I get realllly itchy all over my body. I never had much control with bread, especially challah. Challah reminds me of Friday nights with my family. It’s my safe food. My happy food. The smell of it. The taste of it. Ripping off the crispy tops (much to the annoyance of everyone else) and adding a pinch of salt is my idea of food heaven. S, in proving his Jewish credentials to my family (😂) made an amazing batch of challahs this weekend, that even my parents couldn’t believe was so tasty. I can’t often keep bread in the house, but it’s so nice to have the smell of it wafting in and to mentally be in a safe enough place with food that I can make that decision to have some and not feel guilty. Because my body hates it but it makes me happy. And for me, I don’t get so sick that the restriction is worth it. So here’s to all the delicious bread, made with love, (and not being so in the depths of restriction that I steal the loaf from the kitchen, lock myself in the toilet to eat the whole thing and then nearly pass out) because balance 😂
