When I decided to take my fitness to the next level and compete I was kinda hesitant about it so I asked myself two questions:

1) What’s holding me back?
2) 10 years from now will I regret not doing it? .

And BOOOMM as soon as I got those answers I knew what I had to do. And that’s pretty much for everything in life including changing my whole life moving to another country. .

Made myself a promise to get to the gym three times this week and at least do 30 min of cardio each day. I did that and followed each day with some light weights. Didn’t hit my step goal, but I got a good burn in today. Today Pete and I smashed a boxing workout at home, then I did my 20mins on Trent the Treadmill lol. When I do the Treadmill I wall at speed 5 for 5mins and then I run, or what I call running, at speed 7.5 or 8 for a min. And I just repeat that for the 20mins. As I get fitter I'm going to increase my running time and lessen my walking time. .

So for the longest time I’ve hated cardio. I’m a bad runner. No bounce, short legs, kind of a stocky frame. Even when, in my early twenties, I had a period where I ran every morning for several months, I didn’t progress very much. If I keep at it for a couple of months or so, I can get to where I can run 5k without stopping. Yeah it’s that bad. I hate running.

So I’ve been exclusively strength training for almost 5 years now with some kettlebell work thrown in intermittently. Then I listened to the interview with @drandygalpin on @marksmellybell Power Cast and he said it *might* be a *problem* if it was two years since you did cardio for more than 30 mins straight...

So I started with the goal a couple months ago now of doing cardio, mostly on my spinning bike cause I still fucking hate running, for 3 times a week... One or two of those is steady state, and one or two is high intensity interval training. Feels great!

So thanks @drandygalpin it’s been very uncomfortable but I guess that in itself means I need it. My resting heart rate has gone down about 10 bpm from before. I have to really exert myself to get my heart rate up now. And it drops off quicker.
